Same here, the phone I'm using doesn't support NFC. Makes the decision easy, to THIM or not to THIM, with the decision basically made for me.

The online 90-day system continues to work pretty well. The TM30 registration, as a renter, is not entirely in my control. Owner and agent cooperation are needed for that. I wonder if that is something the THIM would be dealing with, could get complicated.

TDAC online is working fine. The annual extension is never going to be done by app or online. And the other item one needs time-to-time from immigration, the certificate of residence, you'd think would continue to require an office visit.

It'll be interesting to see how the full capabilities being touted about the THIM shake out. Supposedly the THIM is to be 'fully functional' by October?

I assume it will be the same as on the TDAC website, where it asks you which countries you've been to during the previous two weeks, and whether you have any symptoms.

From my experience, if your country list is only places like Europe, China, the US, Southeast Asia, etc, that's it - there are no more questions and you can submit the form. If the list contains places like (in my case) Ethiopia, then it asks whether you've been vaccinated for Yellow Fever, the date of the inoculation, and then tells you to upload a copy of the vaccine certificate. (You then must check in at the health desk at the airport before proceeding to immigration.)

It's exactly the same as on the web based version.

To all those discussing NFC, I've just downloaded it to a Nubia V70 Max which I'm sure has no NFC. It downloaded from Playstore and runs without any issue, allowing me to create a trip just the same as on my regular phone.

It doesn't need NFC to read your passport as that is done with the camera on the data page.

You're right, the THIM app currently does not read the passport chip. I remembered that incorrectly when I posted earlier that did.

I used it for the TDAC earlier this week. The passport scan didn't work, but the rest of the experience was fine.

Apparently for Android your phone must be running version 13 or later operating systems.

Mine is version 12 and updated.

Just checked my cell is version 15.

I won't be using THIM unless I have to.

All pretty minor IMO, but one is the passport scan where there's a button for it on line but has never been activated. I scanned my passport using my phone camera on the app. Another is you don't need access to a laptop or PC and your phone is normally in your pocket. Thirdly it can be done as soon as you book your flights so one less thing to think about, and finally you can have multiple trips prepared at once just waiting to be submitted.

I don't own either.

Re the required TDAC ..... I do it on the cell and takes minimal time.

Anything that is done 'online' re immigration; TDAC, 90-day reports, appointments, etc., does not require a laptop or PC. They can be already be done, and easily, using a phone. (And NFC not required, and without any device compatibility and app store availability issues.)

I have Zero issue doing the TDAC in the 72hr window for reentry to Thailand.

Of course - phones have browsers too - but for most the ease of use of a laptop with a large screen and full keyboard makes it much easier to interact with websites of all natures, not just Thai immigration.

Very little by the sound of it, but maybe like the banks they hope to ease out the web based forms and migrate to apps, who knows?

For what it's worth the app has updated since I installed it last week (2.13.3) and whereas that would not install on my tablet (no NFC) the new version (2.13.4) has done and works fine. Still no new functions and still no ability to create and save a profile.

You have to book your travel details before you can enter trip manager details (profile).

The post being referenced was making the case for the ease of using the app on a phone, and not being required to use a laptop or PC to go online to do the immigration tasks. That was his argument.

I am pointing out he doesn't require a PC or laptop to do these things. If he finds that easier, and would rather do them using a phone, he can already do them now using phone. He would not need the app just for the ease of using a phone for these tasks.

That's a different issue from whether one prefers using a PC/computer rather than a phone. And whatever works for you, keep doing it.

Yes, I know how it works. But you have to start over for each trip. The publicity suggests that you should be able to create a profile which can be used time and time again. As far as I can see this is not possible (yet).
