I'm single, drinking once a week is enough and good discipline. Find hobbies, lots to choose from, I wouldn't include bar hopping as hobbies. The guys who drink daily it's just a slow drawn out death

I'm actually thinking about popping down to Patts, as I'm be at Krung Thep, and it is only 2+hrs away. Haven't been in at least 15 yrs.

2 hotels I peeked at, <1000, both have pools, not surfside though. Can't seem to find one pet friendly surfside. Rabbit, but don't feel like spending 4K, as want to give the area a fair shake, and not hang out at hotel.

Weekdays (2), so hopefully won't be super congested.

Hard to pass up seeing that '7-11', fan that I am of 🙄

Or might just hang out in KT another day, as Patts is the opposite direction from home, and usually why I talk myself out of it, when it crosses my mind. Been on east side a few times, and not much of interest, and I don't feel like hopping out to one of the islands, ferry, fees and Samet is a park, so not sure if can even take dog there.

Been to Chang and really didn't like it, but was decades ago.

Yeah please do. Report back.

Really curious if I'd have the same negative opinion afterwards. Enjoyed 1 stay there, other 2 or 3 times was like, couldn't wait to leave.

Yeah me too. I'm curious to see if I still hate it. People on here rave about it like it's paradise. I remember awful traffic, dirty streets, ugly bargirls, ugly beach. After I went to Samet and Chang and they were paradise.

JP Villa hotel 420 baht with pool. No idea if that area is good or not.

I really like Chang. Samet is small so not much to do.

Im in Prachuap and Chumphon next month. Then onto Kanchanaburi.

I'm heading back south end of this month, with Trang as one destination. Doyle got me hooked in with his vid. One beach area looked way too nice & free. Other spots he visited, I'd already been to, the one park areas a couple times, when it was free.

Pattaya is for sex.

In your mind.

It's interesting reading the narrow minded views of people who have hardly been anywhere. Having merely skimmed the surface of some places. Then they write with authority, as if they actually know anything. 😊

I learnt today Wiggy knows more about Muay Thai than a 10x champion.

I went there before. It was mostly a dump then. No desire to go back. Apart from gyms and restaurants I saw no appeal. Given the poor beach, trashy people and traffic it is not for me. My rankings are correct for me. Your rankings are correct for you. You have a very narrow mind.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here, in order to tell you that in this case, it's you with the very narrow mind.

If you spent your time in the sleazy centre, in cheap digs, what did you expect? That's not normal life, but a commercial hub.

It's laughable how much some of you depend on 'AI' for your 'knowledge' on anything.

The man is obviously not working with a full set. I think a few here simply feel pity for him.

Pattaya is a great destination for those with limited means, allowing them to feel a sense of progress in life.

I think a comparison of our posts will clearly show it is you who has the 'very narrow mind'--not to mention a preference for making sweeping, wildly incorrect pronouncements.

I depend on gut feel. After 24 hours I either like a city or I don't. I'm usually right.

You Patts lover are far too sensitive.

No, you just can't handle different opinions. Common with old people set in their ways. You're right in your mind and anyone who says the opposite is wrong but there is no right or wrong. It is just opinions.

Apart from a large 7/11 and crappy beaches what does it have more of than Bangkok? Patts lovers can't provide a good answer because Bangkok is 10 times larger and has more of everything except a bad beach.

I see they're at it again, spouting lies, exaggerations and other nonsense. Well, like others have said, and I already knew, their types never change, and were broken since birth.

Take pity on someone who's busted you? LOL Sorry, not needed, as I figured your kind out long before you left mommy. Those who don't yet know all about you two will surely open their eyes soon enough, and the pity will be leveraged towards you.

One actually interpreted what I said about how to pronounce Muay Thai into I knew more about Muay Thai than a champion. They actually comment when they're out where the buses don't run. Now let's see what inventive comebacks the troubled twins have now, as , like 12 other members already have said in PM's, they aren't worth our time.

Gut feeling? Like Mr D Trump?

Why do you feel the need to defend such a nonsensical stance? It just diminishes any credibility you might have built up.

Why not just concede that you don't know that much and that you defer to expert opinion? Why pretend that you know it all? Do you know who else does just that? Do you want to be seen in the same category as that person?

For a Western eating expat, Pattaya has by far the best value Western food in Thailand. It is a real draw for many and understandably so......I really don't know how f+b operators manage to offer such great deals. It's as if it's a spiralling race to the bottom to compete for many, which is a real pity as many put alot of effort into trying to offer decent fayre................Survival of the fittest..it's a tough gig, only pros really need apply....................

If food is the most important factor, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur are definitely two of the best and most affordable cities in Asia. KL may be more difficult when it comes to visas, but food-wise, it is hard to beat.

In Bangkok, you can still find central studios for under 15,000 baht a month, with easy access to both the BTS and MRT.

The only negative with Pattaya is:

The traffic and crowds high season and some weekends.

The polluted beaches

The sewer smell

Again, I cannot concur with your statements here. Your opinion is based on a minimal set of data, whereas @newnative has wide ranging experience.

In any other format, would you trust a expert or someone who took one lesson whilst at High School?

Let this one go...

I have been to Pattaya many times (I guess about 17 times). I have never had sex apart with my Thai wife.

A nonsense post. Those were just your impressions based on where you traversed. To suggest that they are all encompassing based on your limited experience, merely illustrates a form of unbridled arrogance.

What is an expert opinion? You either like something or you don't. If a film wins an Oscar is it really better than another? Nope it is just an opinion. All opinions are biased.

Name 5 areas where Patts beats Bangkok?

Expert opinion would be one that has a lot of experience on a subject or a range of subjects. An inexpert opinion would be someone with very little experience.

Did I really need to explain that? Drop the ego, it's not necessary. You don't have to be like @fredwiggy and @Hummin in thinking that you need to win every discussion. It's not combat nor a competition.
