Where we live and go while O&A would bore most people, especially single and not bringing your companionship with you.

Even for us, when O&A, we rarely stay anywhere for more than 2 days. And Krung Thep Rocks, as still find something interesting. Dusit Central Park, for one, and just peeking at. Think I'll stay in KT at least one more day. Need to hit Central anyway for some hands on shopping.

I can walk there from the hotel, along with checking out Benjakitti Forest Park, which I think is finished, or enough of, along with also being walking distance from the hotel.

Monday & Tuesday, so no crowds. Talked myself out of Patts ... again, and that was easy.

Good thing @Hummin pointed out those 'only' flaws with Patts

Opinions are not competition. They are just opinions based on preferences. But based on facts Bangkok being 10x larger has more of everything except beaches. But Patts is cheaper on average based on facts. So Bangkok is mostly superior unless you want a cheaper city.

CM has mountains and a low cost of living too. Phuket has vastly superior air and beaches.

Apart from being cheap Pattaya does not rate at the top for anything.

I lived in Bangkok, by the river. Penthouse with a wrap around balcony. 100 sq.m. Now you'd be looking at a minimum 150k monthly rent. Also lived on the islands, beachfront. At the time a mere 45k monthly. Now possibly similar at 150k monthly.

For 150k, many people can have a nice life in Pattaya, far away from any sleaze. No need to visit the central beach or to hang around the centre at all.

Everywhere has it's pros and cons. But to suggest that you know it all on one visit, whilst staying in or near the centre is the height of ignorance. I would much rather listen to someone who has lived in many different areas, than someone who had a short visit and didn't travel anywhere.

My comment was solely to do with your reply to @newnative . I have no idea as to why you are ranting on about Bangkok and Pattaya. Do you? The don't seem to be comparable. One is the capital and the other a beach resort with ample facilities for day to day living. Nothing stops either respective resident from visiting the other place as and when. One big thing Pattaya has over Bangkok is a much wider selection of housing of all types, and with more selection at all price ranges. Bangkok, of course, has lots of condos for sale and rent, but so does Pattaya, just on a smaller scale.

Pattaya really has it over Bangkok, though, in single-family, one-story pool villas, which are very popular with expats. There are hundreds of nice pool villa projects with single-story homes all over Pattaya to choose from. You can buy a single-family one-story home with a pool for around 5MB or around 50 MB, and every price point in-between the two. And, lots of rentals also available if you prefer to rent. Actually, it also has it all over Bangkok in 2-story pool villas available, too.

Spouse and I are looking for a single-story pool villa to buy in the suburbs of Bangkok, budget 10 to 20MB, and so far have not found a single project--if anyone knows of one, sing out. What we have found is just project after project of rather uninspired two-story homes, almost all with no private pools--and no room on the lot for a pool.

This very wide selection of housing, to buy or rent, explains why Pattaya is booming with new residents. Housing is usually a big ticket budget item for most people and Pattaya's wide selection wins hands down over Bangkok--and this is coming from someone who does have a Bangkok condo.

If you look at my earlier list, Pattaya also does well with all the other things I listed, important things residents look for in a place where they will be living, not visiting as a tourist. Of course, Bangkok is going to win over Pattaya with a list such of this of malls, hospitals, recreation choices, and so on, as it's so much, much bigger, but Pattaya does very well with all of them for a city of its size.

That's plain jealousy, as I raised 6 children, was married, had many decent girlfriends, always treat women with respect, working out over 50 years, do not go by opinions but factual evidence, believe in God, have many friends, traveled around a few countries along with research on them from reputable sources, do not lie, cheat or neglect my family or friends, treat others with respect until they prove themselves toxic, then call them out and eventually ignore them, love good music, movies and food, animal lover, do not take sides politically, and give all the benefit of the doubt until they show their true colors.

This is reality, for me and most others worldwide that aren't users, prejudiced, liars, manipulators, cheats or abusers. Thailand is more than Temples, Muay Thai and Festivals. That can be found anywhere.

Thailand is what it is, no matter if people are in denial or not. Everyone who lives here knows the real Thailand unless they don't leave their condos, especially if you have Thai relations, which gives you much more integration than just having sex with random girls and eating Pad Krapow.

Everyone watches all kinds of movies, and it has no bearing on how they are as people.

You are so out of the game it's incredible. You have no children, never been married, over 35, have no home, steady woman or likely friends.
