They are an absolute nuisance and, when roaming in packs, can be genuinely dangerous. Anyone who has spent enough time around Thailand's stray dogs knows that attacks do happen, particularly when the

They always circle around the back of one and or attack unsuspectingly from behind, need head on a swivel when out and about.

If you hear them, stand your ground, if you run, they will chase. I find shouting with aggressive body language works every time as does dismounting and thrusting my bike as defence at them. Not been bitten for over 2 years now and have had 2 lots of rabies jabs over years.........Damn shame as one can never truly relax getting out and about here....

Soi dogs love ibuprofen, just mix a couple hundred tabs in some mixed meat and there you go.

Thank goodness Thailand also has modern condos with pools, gyms, gardens, security and a 7-Eleven at the front gate, with a shopping mall next door. 😄

Some expats deliberately choose to live down isolated village sois surrounded by packs of dogs, then act shocked that… there are packs of dogs. Pick your location wisely and half the battle’s already won.

So you never leave your condo complex??

It is a known problem, and often there are talks about it. However no action is taken, even if they bite... Why not register them properly and if nobody claims them just remove them from the streets..

Totally agree but Buddhism includes that all living creatures have the right to exist on the same level as a human . That belief is the main reason for so many soi dogs , yet many of these dogs are suffering , starving and carrying diseases that can be devastating for humans .

The Thai government need to mitigate the soi dog problem so as to make the public safe and introduce dog licencing / chip which would bring in a decent levy for the government . I had to stop my morning walk because of packs of dogs attacking me and making their soi a no go zone for pedestrians .

BTW , I have seen dogs roaming the hospital wards in my local gov; hospital , outrageous .

Me too.

Early mornings are the worst.

I go for walks in the evenings now.

One dog down the road is white, but has strange-looking blue dots. Doesn't look natural at all. Must be a very sick dog.
