I thought these poor asylum seekers were coming from war zones.

Yes it is. Canon Law concerns only church property and clergy discipline but not things like divorce or inheritance disputes. Sharia councils have no formal legal power and are only tolerated by UK authorities.

Canon law deals with more than that. It also covers confessions and divorce, for example.

Much like Jewish Beth Din, the Sharia Councils are private arbitration councils for Muslims. Why would they concern you as, presumably, you are neither Jewish or Muslim?
