'Agencies' is a bit of a misnomer, but it best describes how Wise functions in Thailand. They have (at least) 3 what you could best be describe as 'managed accounts' in three banks here in Thailand. It's they who receive and distribute funds on behalf of Wise.

If you open a Wise 'Transfer Confirmation' in your account and scroll down to bottom, it will show you which of those 'agencies' paid the money out to you. My latest one came from Kasikorn.

Just checked the verification requirements given by wise and it all depends what they mean by 'your visa must be unexpired at the time of verification'.If an extension stamp to a retirement visa counts as expired then many of us have real problems.

Has anyone checked with wise support?

Just chatted with wise support they do not accept non immigrant-o retirement visa extension stamps or the original visa for verification purposes.But they will accept my valid UK passport or an id card or a driving license.I was a bit surprised but was assured this will work perfectly.This is straight from the horses mouth.

Just checked again with support as it sounded too easy.Apparently what they told me was for id verification.They might also want to verify right to stay in Thailand in which case they might need to see a current extension stamp and the original visa.

Now that sound more like it doesn't it. You could be anywhere in the world and still have a 'valid passport!'

I just opened the Wise app. I wanted to transfer a nominal amount of money, 200 baht, to Thailand, just to see if it would trigger the requirement in the OP, so I could get it out of the way.

The user interface has changed. The different currencies used to be in large square blocks from left to right, now, they are in one block, in small writing, in the middle of the opening page.

Anyone else getting this?

I think this is to accommodate their "Do more with your money" option.

You can have a Jar apparently to save money separately from your main account. (I had a few jars this morning watching the football, for all the good it did me ☹️).

Earlier today I was informed by wise support that if wise needs to verify the right to stay in Thailand they might ask for a valid retirement non immigrant -o visa extension stamp and the original visa even if it is in a previous passport.

Pink ID card or

Yellow book or

Thai driving licence

I did read a while back on wise Q&A section that they would accept a non O imm visa stamp as long as you can show the original eVisa sticker.

But now wise are stating that they will accept just the non O visa stamp without the original eVisa sticker.

I think 🤔 we just need to wait and see what develops over the next few weeks.

I don't think they are causing stress at all. We are creating our own stress within the community. It's just like that income tax business a few years back. What a damp squid that turned out to be!

So what you said in a previous post (see below), and what Wise said in the link you posted, can all be taken with a giant pinch of salt then. No skin off my nose, personally, as I gave Wise the heave-ho several months ago after they threatened to close my account because of my inability to prove my right to reside in Thailand to their satisfaction.

Wise have clearly expended a considerable amount of time, money and effort in creating 'Wise Ltd (Thailand)'. An entity which will come into being (officially) on the 3rd August.

So you seem to think that Wise is now going to make life difficult for all their many loyal clients here in Thailand and thereby 'bring the house down?' Wise cannot function without clients.

This is nothing to do with Wise perse. It is BOT regulations for some banking apps in Thailand, that Android phone users must have Android 15 ( or higher) for security reasons. People with older phones that cannot be updated, must use the Wise website.

@dayo202 I am glad to see that we agree regarding WISE requirements for THALAND registered WISE accounts MY point is that the same requirements are NOT required for wise accounts registered out side of Thailand and that those people have no need to rush out and by a new phone!

Normal the phone manufacturer give 5 free android upgrades.

I brought my phone with Android 15 pre installed about 12 months ago, now I'm been upgraded to version 16.

I'm good until upto android 20 and 6 years free security patches

Just before making this post I tried sending money from a US Credit Union to SCB. Previously we could send just under 50k baht and receive in seconds. Not any more. I now start "negotiating" at 35k and work my way down until I get a number that will transfer immediately. I got down to 32k and decided "OK, I can do that." I went through the security safeguards then hit send. Suddenly a screen came up saying I'd get the funds in a week. WHAT the F*#&? I cancelled that, went back and tried again. I can't send 25 satang now in less than a week. Thinking about looking at other options.

Using the website is the obvious alternative to users affected by this but reverting to app version 9.32.0 should also fix it.

Visa and proof of address are two different things.

Anyway, it seems that contrary to what Wise previously said (the email would be sent sometime in June), the email requesting additional information will be sent only after the changes have been completed, meaning after August 3rd.
