Obviously they only count the legals.

The 1/2 million boat arrivals are not included.

But Liebour also claim the NHS is getting better and electricity prices are going down.

Even Blair is speaking out against Liebour now!

Half a million? Where did you read that? Please share the article. Thanks.

The most credible published estimates suggest roughly 600,000 to 900,000 unauthorised (illegal/undocumented) migrants were living in the UK, but those estimates are based on 2017 data, there is no reliable current figure - the number is believed to be higher.

Small boats now account for about 80-90% of detected unauthorised arrivals each year.

In 2024, the UK recorded approximately 43,630 detected illegal / irregular arrivals. Of those:

  • Around 36,800 arrived by small boat across the English Channel.

  • Small boats accounted for about 84% of all detected illegal arrivals.

The number of people who arrive illegally is relatively clear, but the number who remain in the UK illegally is much harder to measure. Many illegal arrivals claim asylum and are later granted refugee status or other permission to stay, meaning they are no longer in the country illegally - so the 'count' drops.

So arrival figures cannot be directly translated into the current illegal migrant population - but the total of those who 'initially' arrived illegally is arguably far higher.

The post I quoted said "half a million boat arrivals". The news report is regarding 2025 figures.

There were not half a million boat arrivals last year.

Your figure of illegal immigrants is the total figure still in UK, including visa over slayers and EU citizens who didn't apply for settlement, representing the majority of illegal currently in UK.

Correct - about 50k illegal boat arrivals in one year... and over 10 years, thats half a mil.

If you only want to count those illegals who arrived in the UK in 2025 and ignore all the others - then yes, the 500,000 is exaggerated.

Just over 200000 illegal boat arrivsls since 2016.

Besides, as I previously explained, the comment I quoted was in relation to the recent figures, showing 2025 arrivals.

Much nicer due to low humidity but still too hot.
22 degrees is the universally agreed best temp for aircon unless there's a need to adjust to being boiled every day.

Universally agreed?

I think not.

Far too cold for my liking.

I once attended an engineering training course. The lecturer told a story about running the course in Saudi Arabia. He set the AC to 25 degrees. The participants were quite restless and asked if the temperature could be adjusted. They preferred 35 degrees to be comfortable.

Yep, when I moved back to England it took me about 5-10 years to adapt back to the cold.
I never really fully acclimatised to Thailand (only managed 2.5 years in one stay so far) - it's too bleedin hot for me which is why didnt commit to moving there full timelong term

Yep people from or acclimatised to boiling hot places might prefer 25

I'd argue 20-22 is optimal - I think that's why cold, northern countries have done so much more than hot countries - too hot to work hard or get much done at 30 and above

32 here at the moment with a "feel like" temp of 40.

Perfection.

Too humid and sweaty for me!
Roll on cool season

should cool down - at least humidity - by end of June. The rains really pick up in September and October (the worst of the monsoon season - for Bangkok anyway - different by Thai region). So July and August can still hammer us, but they tend to be a bit of a lull in Bangkok.
