Foreigner's Provocation Leads to Thai Street Fight

Featured Replies

A video capturing a confrontation between a foreign man and a Thai man has gone viral, showing the foreigner slapping the Thai man before a street fight ensued. The clip, shared by the user “Mai Tong Pood,” documents the brief altercation which unfolded on the evening of May 12. The conflict was reportedly initiated when the foreigner began antagonizing the Thai man.

Kritsada, a 27-year-old rider who filmed the incident, relayed that the Thai man had parked his vehicle when the foreigner approached and allegedly "began causing trouble." Despite the absence of audible dialogue, Kritsada perceived an element of provocation from the foreigner's side. Initially, the Thai man attempted to defuse the situation by not retaliating.

The confrontation seemed to subside with both men parting ways, but the foreign man reportedly returned, further provoking the Thai man. This escalation eventually led to the physical altercation captured on video. Social media reacted with criticism toward the foreign man’s conduct, while some users commended the Thai man’s initial restraint.

Currently, details regarding the brawl's location or any legal proceedings remain undisclosed. The incident has sparked widespread debate online concerning appropriate behavior and respect for cultural differences.

Only drunk farang out of line.

Looks like he deserved it.

Som nam na, m*ron.

som nam na ai kwai

Patting someone on the head is a significant "no-no" and a serious taboo in Thai culture. It is considered highly offensive and disrespectful because the head is viewed as the most sacred, highest, and cleanest part of the body, believed to be the dwelling place of the soul or khwan.

They don’t wait for trouble; they actively apply for it.

22 can't be Thai...

Wonder if he was from Liverpool. giggle

The quality falang tourists that Thailand loves to bring in.

Why?

Street fight? one-sided scuffle at best.

FAFO

Happy to see this dipshnit take a beating.

He got lucky. They could've killed him.

You must admire the calmness of the Thai´s before the guy went totally out of line and touched his head. He got what he deserved.

Seems he was being sarcastic and trying to wind them up...

  • Pulled off a Wai - which really didn't look genuine with that 'curtsey' - looked like a sarcastic over reaction.

  • Then the head tap - he knew what he was doing.

  • The Thai guy was just waiting for something like that - just needed a trigger*

  • Good behaviour - the Thai guy in the yellow ed-escalated - that could have easily (usually - been an 6 on 1).

*can't say I blame the Thai guy for belting the foreigner - the Western had it coming, and excesive force wasn't used, his head wasn't stamped on by 10 bouncers - just got a mild beating - nothing serious.

... this is just a FAFO situation..... not really a biggie - happens in every town in Thailand and all over the globe (mostly).

The idiot foreigner really asked for it. He insulted a Thai in the worst possible way in front of other Thais. That's guaranteed to cause a physical confrontation and the foreigner clearly wasn't cut out for it. It's the definition of STUPID.

The foreigner is lucky he didn't catch a much worse beating. The video serves to reinforce the long-standing advice to never, ever touch a Thai's head. It will never be perceived as a joke and will always end badly for the foreigner.

I touch my gf's head all the time.

NEVER....EVER.....touch the head of another in Thailand.

How could he not have known not to do this?

Total lack of cultural understanding.

Also, be careful of your feet, and where you place them, lest you insult others.

And he certainly could have avoided it.

could have walked away at any point before the little tap on the head.

Oh no he's definately got a grandmother from the swiss alps that was bedded by a travelling Chef grandfather from UK. On fathers side definately seems to be half Yoruba of Nigeria and half mohammed of Sweden...

Who gives a f where he's from.

The foreigner should be thankful he's not dead after that performance.
