It's been 14 years since I was in Thailand, but previously I spent about 4 years there. Foreign tourist behavior shocks me more and more every day. But where do they get that impression that they can do virtually anything? From the reputation Thailand earned by looking the other way at places like Pat Pong and Soi Cowboy, seedy massage parlors in many, many Thai hotels, etc. If they want to clean up the reputation, it will be a Herculean task...which will hurt incoming money from the tourists they want to look down on.
