Better than Monte Carlo! As good as it gets. A true family vacation spot. We even have go cart tracks and we are nearly crime free. We have some of the world's best beaches. We rival Polynesia!

Go cart tracks is the my main priority when deciding on a vacation destination.

"Honey, they have a new go-cart track!! Pack the bags and get the passports, Pattaya here we come"

IF a tourist can't get plastered and find a companion by 4 am, give it up and become a monk. How many are at these bars at 4? If marginal, keeping open til 6 will increase operating costs with little to no increase in income. Pity the staff with those hours. Pity anyone who lives within a mile of those blasting music.

Do not expand the area of businesses. I've live in Jomtien about 20 years. Finding companionship and getting plastered has never been a problem here. Dragging down our quality of life with these horrible loud, intrusive bars should be criminal. Everyone who lives in Jomtien would see their home/condo values drop.

Is Soi 6 going to get a UNESCO World Heritage listing?

I believe the correct spelling is with an "f".

Trouble in Pattaya is not the opening hours, or the number of venues or blablabla. It is the type of people that have been swarming in like flees for the last few years and turn the place into a stinky zoo full of cheap retards.

World-Class SEX Tourist Destination

There, fixed that...

World class? 😂😂🤣

What is that? People normally go to Pattaya for ONE thing. Just own it and don’t try to make it to what it is not. But if you want ‘world class’, flatten it and turn it into a park by the beach. But please don’t do that because then all of the miscreants and dodgy ladyboys will come to my quaint town!

On top of that, opening hours can make a difference. Maybe not so much in the more established nightclubs, but it depends on the venue too, and what kind of punters the venue attracts.

I think you’re confusing what they mean by world class. To them it means worldwide or more people. It doesn’t mean any specific demographic.

The thing I love most about Patts is that it has absolutely zero sh*thole factor. Nothing dodgy, no crime, no violence, the ladyboys never rob anyone, nobody has a tattoo, nobody is fobbing themselves off on the beach. The highest quality tourists in Thailand. It's a complete Slumdog's paradise.

Look at the infrastructure of Singapore and then the infrastructure of Pattaya. Pattaya will NEVER be a "World Class" tourist destination.

Are they for real? I live in Pattaya, and love the place, but this is just ridiculous. How on earth does extending opening hours for bars from 04 to 06 make us a world class tourist destination?

Have I missed something all the years I've lived here?

Back to the drawing table, girls.

So what exactly is it that attracts these swarms of undesirables then ? Reap what you sow, i suggest.

I hope Poramet Ngampichet or nickname Beer is reelected. He has done a pretty good job considering the tough conditions and think he has potential to make more great changes.

I'll admit I'm not well versed on past mayor accomplishments.

Nightlife operators believe

Belief is not fact-based but a "trust me" argument.

Several OP's do attempt to draw parallels with some internationally known entertainment venues but draw little factual similarities such as culture, ethnicity, wealth, freedom, etc.

I can appreciate the viewpoints of the Pattaya Nightlife Operators Association. But where is the international experience, ie., from other than from Thais themselvs? For example:

"The world's 20 best cities for nightlife right now," July 2025,

https://www.timeout.com/travel/worlds-best-cities-for-nightlife

"Based on thousands of people in hundreds of the world's best cities,  asking them to rate both the quality and affordability of their city’s nightlife scene, from clubbing to bars, pubs and nighttime entertainment."

Weed, for one... Worst thing that has happened to this tourist destination.

I guess it's World Class in the same way "gentlemen" go to Gentlemen's Clubs.

I haven't driven down to Patts in a while, but is opening up more areas for "entertainment" necessary? Are existing bars and agogos turning folks away due to overcrowding?

We need extended hours for more fights with Ladyboys and their customers.

Pattaya to Boost Status as World-Class Tourist Destination

It already is, for sex tourists. And for criminals from all over the world, who go there to lay low and/or launder their ill gotten gains.

Look at Venice, despite the infrastructure still a world class tourist destination. Definitions of world class depends on a row factors and perceptions will very equally; for most of us, living in a city that offer it all, life is good and indeed not as stereotype as the general perception is..... out in the boonies.

Pattaya is what you choose it to be!

After living here for 6 years, I see a desire for 2 Pattayas, along the same lines as 2 Vegas.

They want the nightlife and bars busy, BUT they also want to be a family-friendly destination.

While neither is exclusive, they have many issues.

The biggest one that I see that makes me laugh is closing at 6, because it will be better for the customers. Every article I read about Pattaya has a person in a fight getting mugged, fighting with the establishment or something, and it is always after 4.

Expanding the nightlife areas zones would be reasonable until you look at the fact that they would almost totally take south Pattaya and make it one big rip-off and drunk party. Then you would have a new area start up somewhere else.

Right now, they are starting to get things sorted with the family side, although there is a long way to go.

What the Association and Walking Street should be looking for is better regulations for unlicensed people on Walking Street and in the Soi 6 area. The association should be working to stop brown envelopes and close on time. At present, the biggest worry that the Beach Road area has is not the hours but the number of Thai Indian businesses that are buying property.

Perhaps the TAT should create a listing on this website. It would definitely help to further establish their reputation as a world-class destination: https://www.wikisexguide.com/wiki/Main_Page

Well, if that's what you want, then start with doing a sweep and net all the ladyboys making everything a nightmare, and send them packing home and announce ladyboy exclusion zones of 50km around Pattaya and other places for them under the threat of arrest... due to them not being "family friendly" in the tourist sense. Start there and then move on to moron tourists.

Are they having a laugh?

Build a metro wide mass transit system and a grand opera house like in Sydney and then we can talk!

Pattaya nightlife operators have called on the city’s next mayor to work closely with the business sector and support policies aimed at strengthening Pattaya’s position as a world-class tourist resort. The appeal comes ahead of the Pattaya mayoral and city council elections on June 28, 2026, with business owners seeking greater cooperation to support tourism and economic growth.

Lisa Hamilton, President of the Pattaya Nightlife Operators Association, said the incoming mayor should have a strong understanding of the local business community, listen to industry concerns, and maintain ongoing collaboration with private sector stakeholders. She noted that previous cooperation with city administrators had helped operators communicate issues effectively and contribute to the city’s development.

“We hope the new mayor, regardless of who is elected, will continue this close partnership to ensure smooth development of the city and its tourism industry,” Hamilton said.

The association has put forward two key proposals designed to enhance Pattaya’s tourism appeal. The first is to extend the closing time for entertainment venues in designated entertainment zones from the current 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Operators argue that longer opening hours would better match tourist behaviour and help sustain economic activity in one of Thailand’s leading international destinations.

The second proposal calls for a review of existing zoning regulations governing entertainment venues. According to the association, many of the current rules were introduced years ago and no longer reflect Pattaya’s significant urban expansion. Business owners are seeking an expansion of designated entertainment zones in high-potential areas to allow more venues to operate legally while improving regulation and supporting long-term tourism growth.

The group highlighted Jomtien as an example, noting that although the area now contains hundreds of bars, it is still technically outside official entertainment zones. Operators say businesses there have only been granted temporary permission to remain open later despite repeated requests for permanent zoning changes.

Pattaya’s nightlife sector previously benefited from national measures that extended operating hours to 4:00 AM in selected pilot areas. Operators credit those changes with helping to stimulate the city’s nighttime economy and attracting visitors.

The latest proposals are intended to help Pattaya remain competitive with other major tourism destinations worldwide. Nightlife operators believe that updated regulations and extended operating hours would further support the city’s ambition to be recognised as a world-class resort destination.

The requests come as voters prepare to choose a new city administration. Candidates in the mayoral race include incumbent Poramese Ngampichet, Itthiwat Wattanasaathorn of the People’s Party, independent candidate Sakchai Tangho, and two other contenders. Voting for both the mayoral and city council elections is scheduled for June 28, 2026.

Let me see alcohol, and drugs cause major problems, that foreigners get blamed for, now they want to extend business hours and increase entertainment zones...has this Business Association got lts head screwed on correctly?

People in general are guilty in exposing themselves for such risks.

"Such risks" should not happen in a "World Class Tourist Destination"!!!
