German National Arrested in Bangkok Underage Exploitation Probe

Featured Replies

A German national has been arrested along with a Thai mother and stepfather after a 17-year-old girl sought help from authorities over alleged sexual exploitation and human trafficking in Bangkok. Police said the teenager had been forced into activities for the sexual gratification of others and compelled to produce explicit material for a foreign individual, resulting in serious physical and psychological harm.

The case came to light after the Kan Jom Palang Foundation received a request for assistance from the 17-year-old victim. The foundation subsequently coordinated with the Metropolitan Police Bureau, prompting an investigation by officers from the Children, Women and Family Protection Division.

The operation was launched under orders from Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom and Deputy Commissioner Pol Maj Gen Pallop Aremla. Investigators from the division, working alongside officers from Nong Khaem Police Station, gathered evidence and conducted enquiries into the allegations.

Based on the evidence collected, investigators obtained arrest warrants from Taling Chan Criminal Court on 23 June 2026 at 9.20pm. All three suspects were arrested later that night at 11.30pm.

The suspects were identified as Thai nationals, Thanamas, 28, Witthawat, 36, and an unnamed German national. The first two suspects were charged with jointly procuring a child aged over 15 but under 18 for the sexual gratification of others without consent, committing offences against a descendant under their care, possessing child sexual abuse material for sexual exploitation, and human trafficking involving a person aged between 15 and 18.

The German suspect was charged with supporting the procurement or inducement of a person for prostitution, regardless of whether the person consented.

According to police, the case began when Kanthas Phongsphaiboonwet, widely known as Kan Jom Palang, coordinated with authorities to remove the victim from a residence in Bangkok’s Nong Khaem district. The teenager reportedly contacted the foundation herself and expressed concern that three younger children living in the same household, aged nine, six and three, could eventually be forced into similar exploitation.

Following the arrests, officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security took the 17-year-old victim and the three younger children into protective care. They have been placed in a child welfare facility in Bangkok where they will receive accommodation, support and rehabilitation services.

Khaosod reported that Pol Col Suphachai Chaisuwan said investigators would continue expanding the inquiry to identify and prosecute all individuals involved in purchasing sexual services and any related trafficking networks.

Please don't let this be a domestic dispute with a family member trying to stitch someone up.

If the claims are legit, the accused will also have to worry about Germany prosecuting him. A German national is subject to the German Strafgesetzbuch (criminal code) that allows for prosecution of German nationals for criminal acts committed in foreign jurisdictions. Germany is a signatory of Treaty No. 201 - Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (CETS No. 201).

It will be a trauma for life. Good that the German is caught.

No return to Thailand ever.

It still says: ...over alleged sexual exploitation...

Let's just wait and see what the investigation actually reveals. Trump-style prejudgments are not very helpful!

How Trump comes into this story?

And....you can wait as long you want.

This young woman got terrible experience, left with a trauma.

Obviously you try to defend the culprit? Can't believe it

Seems you're a German too. Is this why you try to defend him?

It's even more shocking when Thai women get involved in these types of crimes.

Why not stick to crypto scams? They always generate revenue, don't they?

That is your first thought?

As if the sexual exploitation of a girl or young woman is some kind of unlikely event?

It seems to me that your mind is very limited. Similar to the one whose name I mentioned before. As long as something is not proven, the presumption of innocence applies. This is the case even in the USA, much to the dismay of Trump and his ever-shrinking MAGA clientele.

@BerndD you can give me as many "thumbs down" as you want. But it's questionable why you defend this scum bag? He's arrested by RTP, so there is a severe case. They don't do arrests just for fun.

For me it's disgusting to support the culprit's side instead of the victim, a young girl. Unbelievable 😳

It would not be the first time that such an accusation turned out to be an act of revenge on the occasion of an internal family dispute.
If the accusation turns out to be true, the German will rightly have to expect a high penalty in Thailand as well as in Germany.

If someone accused you of a crime you didn't commit, you would also be arrested by the RTP. But are you really guilty about that? Thinking helps!

An arrest does not mean guilt. There is no finding of guilt. Even in relatively clean jurisdictions mistakes and perversions of justice occur. At the very least, the accused has the right to a fair hearing.

could it be the payment was not enough to pay family debts and what originally may have been agreed upon turned sour... just saying as it happened to an Italian acquaintance

Your friend participated in underaged prostitution ?

nope, it was all a business deal and consensual agreements that included the Phu Yai as well

Doesn't matter if it was consensual or not and doesn't matter if any payment was made and doesnt matter if Phu Yai agreed to it .

Sex with underage people is illegal and it was child prostitution

How do you know he is the culprit?

I think that was the point being made.

An investigation will be made, a case will be presented to court, or not if the evidence doesn’t warrant it, and the individual will be found guilty or not guilty. Then he will be the culprit in the eyes of the law, or not. It’s kind of how the system works.

According to reporting, the young lady has suffered a severe trauma. Which is tragic. It’s important that the right culprits are found and prosecuted and punished.

Two Thai nationals and this German guy are suspects. So they are suspected culprits. Not yet culprits.

I don’t think anyone is defending the perpetrator of the crime.

I think the point is being made that it is important to get the right perpetrator and prove it in a court of law. And then punish as aggressively as possible.

Otherwise we just descend into the realms of vigilante justice.

What do you do with rock spiders? You send them to prison where fellow inmates crush them. They also have have morals to get rid of them when it comes to the life of a young child.

I read about this yesterday and it is a horrible story for sure. A mother forcing her underage daughter into prostitution and to record the encounters for sale online to pay for the fathers drugs is heartbreaking and evil.

One thing i would like to point out is that this had been going on for a long time and nowhere does it say (this report or in the sister report) that the German guy had anything to do with the organisation of the coercion of the girl.

There is a chance he fully believed she was of legal age, a 17 year old can look 20 plus after all. He may have been one of many customers and was just the one that was with her when the warrant was executed.

If he knew she was underage, i'm sure he will get all that he deserves from the justice system.

I believe any juvenile who believes they were exploited should get a fair hearing. There are more than enough girls who participate willingly.

It's very difficult to get a fair trial in Thailand: 90% conviction rate. Unlike the West, no one would judge him in Thai prison. FFS, she was 17!

Look up Kyle Bevan.

He had killed a child and 3 inmates went into his cell and murdered him.

Doesmt matter of they are willing or not, 17 is regarded as underaged prostitution

Sounds like the White Old Man speech: it's only a girl, probably lying.

I could vomit to hear such speech

The good thing is that you and others men, who tend having doubts of the girl's accusations are a loud but not majority.

my neighbors daughter is 17 and just gave birth to a baby boy, she was impregnated by a 19 year old by friend, the guy run away before birth, now her parents have to help raise the baby, they didn't call the cops, nobody call anybody, nobody complained abut under aged sex or pregnancy, it appears that's acceptable for Thais to have sex with "under aged Thai girls" but not ok for Non Thais, you really sound like a very short minded person, chill up

Teenagers having sex is one thing and legal.

Adults paying poor children for sex is a different issue and illegal .

I sound small minded ? you are trying to justify child prostitution

If you can't think of anything intelligent to say, is invoking Trump your only pivot?
