Australian Arrested at Bangkok Airport Over Pattaya Murder

If what he said was true, and that is possibly lies too, then why didn't he tell her to just give him a BJ if she was menstrating and give her 500 baht for it. Seems stupid to risk everything for such a low amount of money, would have been better to even just give her the money to get rid of the problem and move on chalking it up to experience. Doesn't pass the smell test to me.

Sounds like he did offer 500 for a BJ, she wasn't happy and it all kicked off

You are having quite the morning rant. Here he is a drug user. Later he was likely having a "few schooners".

Either way, just another pathetic, filthy sex tourist coming to Thailand to molest young girls. Nothing to do with visas. Those scumbag perverts are part of the landscape.

Let's hope money doesn't get him off a prison sentence, where her brothers can remind him of what he did.

I reminded of a similar murder in Pattaya 10 or so years ago, N. Irish guy stabbed a girl he'd barfined to death, then covered with blood, jumped a taxi to the Airport. The driver alerted police and they quickly nailed him. Big in the news for a week then, as always it went away. Family in N. Ireland had money. Nobody I know knows how it happened but he ended up being sent back to N. Ireland and walked a free man, as did the Norwegian who stormed into a neighboring hotel room in Phuket and killed a honeymooning Indian. AFAIK, He's still walking free. The Nana Plaza killer was supposedly identified but never convicted and a Brit who killed his wife on Soi Honey Inn in Pattaya at noontime in front of dozens of witnesses, deeded the bar he jointly owned with his dead wife to her sister, posted 4 million bail and skipped to the UK, never charged with anything there. Justice is a commodity.

So, the victim wasn’t a LB, some of the previous posters claiming she was will be disappointed, their fantasies spoiled.

Why do so many posters have to air their fantasies on here, very disturbing !!

Unbelievable yes, also it's not what the report says. It was the cheap b'stard that claims he reduced his offer, no mention of what he expected in return.

Hi,

It is not important now, but there have been two different reports coming out.

One saying she received a call and wanted to leave and asked for 500 baht for expenses, another stating she was menstruating and an argument, yet again, broke out as she wanted 1,000 baht and he was offering 500 baht.

At the end of the day, whatever comes out in the wash, this is a murder, a family's life ruined, a girl dead. A stupid foreigner going to jail for a long time for the sake of absolute 'buttons' in real monetary terms.

Why don’t you crop the photos, some of the more ghoulish posters on here will be visiting and doing selfies at the same table !!

I admit, that was my first thought after reading about his admission/s.

Why is it always aussie bogans?

Please back it up with some actual case data. Australians are rarely implicated in murders in Thailand.

I am not up-to-date on these things, but 500 baht or 1,000 baht seems an incredibly small amount of money these days.

I once offered a girl 500 for a BJ from the original 1000 because she had loads of genital warts, she accepted, lucky otherwise she may have ended up in a suitcase

I doubt that the more refined posters will be making a beeline to some place that offers a gravy bowl on the plate.

And you are surprised? Covid killed or chased off some of the classier people.

Knives out for Brits, for being in the news too often lately, and Aussies over the murder of a 17-year-old in Pattaya?

Why are some people immediately assuming the man was on a DTV or ED visa—has that become the go-to explanation this month?

Next we’ll hear it was guys going berserk after smoking weed, or Russians and Chinese acting up because of extended visa-free stays.

Where does it end?

Will authorities now demand criminal-record checks, health insurance, letters from mothers, job references and school transcripts from every Aussie and Brit entering Thailand?

Ridiculous.

Police have arrested a 46-year-old Australian man at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he attempted to flee Thailand, in connection with the disappearance and murder of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found on 27 June 2026, inside a suitcase abandoned beside railway tracks in Pattaya.

Get today's headlines by email image.png

The suspect, identified publicly by Thai police as Mr. Simon Peter Carman, was detained while attempting to buy a ticket to return to Australia. He has denied any involvement in the killing and maintains he is innocent despite what police describe as strong CCTV evidence. He currently faces a charge of abducting a minor under the age of 18 for indecent purposes.

image.png

The arrest followed a joint investigation by Pattaya City Police and Nong Prue Police, who traced the suspect’s movements using CCTV footage collected along his suspected escape route.

According to investigators, the victim, Miss T, 17, from Kalasin province, disappeared after entering a condominium on Jomtien Second Road with Carman at 3.34am on June 25. CCTV footage showed the pair holding hands as they entered the building and went to Room 20 on the 15th floor. Police say the teenager was never seen leaving the condominium alive.

Further CCTV footage recorded at around 9.34pm the same day allegedly showed Carman dragging a large black suitcase from the building. He loaded it onto a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle bearing Prachuap Khiri Khan registration. Police later used CCTV tracking him riding along Sukhumvit Road towards Soi Chaiyapruk 2 and then onto a road running parallel to the railway tracks.

image.png

Investigators said the suspect disappeared from CCTV coverage for more than nine minutes before returning to the condominium on the same motorcycle without the suitcase. Police believe the victim’s body was disposed of during that period.

A body concealed inside a black suitcase was later discovered beside railway tracks behind Pattaya Floating Market in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. Police from Pattaya and Nong Prue coordinated efforts under senior officers, analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and locate the suspect.

Officers tracked Carman to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he was arrested before boarding a flight. Authorities are continuing to question him while forensic specialists gather additional evidence to support the case. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to examine forensic evidence and complete the case file for legal proceedings.

Putting myself in this guy's shoes, and imaging a change of price / services available, once back in the room, and the girl grabs a knife from the kitchen due to a price / service dispute, and I punch her in the face and she falls down and hits her head and dies in my apartment, would I dispose of the body, no, would I run, no, would anyone believe my version of events, no, am I in a whole lot of trouble, yes.

I am not up-to-date on these things, but 500 baht or 1,000 baht seems an incredibly small amount of money these days.

The minimum daily wage is 400 baht in Thailand, therefore, 1000 baht represents 2.5 days of minimum daily wage work, for 1 hour.

Sure, the work is unpleasant, but so is working in a 7/11 or on a construction site for 400 baht a day.

I'm sure the family is equally interested in finding out what the motive behind the murder was, and as offensive as you may find it, speculation is part of the process of getting to the truth.

A pity that the family wasn’t more interested in what their daughter was up to while she was alive. She was 17 years old and a minor, her parents could have taken more responsibility when raising her and then maybe she wouldn’t have been hooking in Pattaya.

The guy will get what’s coming to him, the parents don’t get much sympathy from me. For the girl her upbringing ended in tragedy.

Australians are aggressive people that's why I stay away from Phuket and Bali

I knew once Pattaya was starting to get more Aussies albeit the middle aged to older ones there would be problematic

A few years ago the Australian bikes were trying to infiltrate Pattaya , the Thai authorities soon put a stop to that

Last trip I saw middle aged Aussie bogans hanging off the back of the baht bus

Tattoos , rough faces , aggressive look

I knew they were Aussies and my confirmation was affirmed when the guy hanging off shouts to me in an Australian accent "what are you lookin at mate !

Rubbish people and now these older ones are coming into Pattaya to look for trouble, Australian people are trouble wherever they go

I am not up-to-date on these things, but 500 baht or 1,000 baht seems an incredibly small amount of money these days.

I think that's one of the cultural differences between "us and them".

To me, that's pocket change. I wouldn't even miss it at the end of a day. To them, it's a couple days' wages or more. So it doesn't surprise me if they treat money differently than I would.

Australians are no longer like they used to be , they are aggressive people who don't mind their own business

Even I'm looked at on the street wearing my nail polish

I was wearing my pink nail polish on a bar in Jomtien Lone Star last trip

And who was the person to ask me why I'm wearing it...a nosy old Aussie !

Even his attitude was bogan low class

He approaches my table where I'm sitting quietly having the special 2 beers for the special price and asks me why I have pink nail polish on

I will be glad when Australia is taken over by the beautiful indian people but that's a different story and a different topic

So maybe around 24 hours from the time the suitcase was discovered to stopping the alleged perp trying to fly out of Suvarnabhumi. Pretty good police work.

This whole episode is sad. The only good thing I see, as others have maybe noted, is that this was a pretty sophisticated linking of data in short time to be able to find this guy buying a ticket at Swampy to get out of Dodge.

According to reports, she had a 19 year old male friend with her at the beach during the pick-up. He was the one who reported her missing.

One might speculate that he was the one who called her, if there was a call.

For example, if her friend followed her to the condo, it made it even easier to identify him in a short period of time.

Once they knew who he was, they put a note on the Immigration system. For there, Immigration will notify whomever put the note on the system.

From the OP: after entering a condominium on Jomtien Second Road with Carman at approximately 3.34am on June 25.

So was the alleged perp the owner of the condo or was this just another Airbnb short-term (less than 30 days) illegal rental.

What's that got to do with anything?
