For some reason now TVC has decided to put a disclaimer in the smallest legally allowed typeface that 1900 baht goes to government fee and 12,100 baht is a PROFESSIONAL SERVICE with the implication that it is SOLELY a professional service fee and that thee ฿12,100 price pays for private agency assistance rather than an official government tax or fee hike.

To get a waiver using the current Police Order Clause 5 1900 baht "legitimate reason' exception, one has to submit a formal petition to one's local immigration office. These petitions usually are based on some hardship or humanitarian provision that could not otherwise conformed to the listed exceptions in e.g. 2.26 In the case of litigation or court proceedings: OR 2.25 In the case of receiving medical treatment, attending rehabilitation, or taking care of a patient.

But how often do we read this: There are many expats I've met who have more than enough money, but prefer to leave it where it is, whether the reason be interest rates you wouldn't get here, convenience, whatever. OR I don't want to park 800K in a bank here. Back home that's 40K interest, pay agent 15K. good to go. OR I use an agent for a few reasons. One, I don't trust the Thai government, and I don't trust the Thai banks. Two, it's financially beneficial to use an agent.

How could a visa agency put together a 'legitimate' hardship petition when someone has no problem saying they have plenty of money they are just making the willful choice not to conform with the standard 2.22 retirement extension provisions.

Jerry, this isn't healthy behavior.

If you're not careful your tombstone is going to read: "Here lies JerryM, he spent his final days policing other expats' immigration paperwork."

Thanks. First I'm naive. Then I'm overturning stones that should be left alone. But I'm just talk. Something has happened here and, for those at the Thai Visa Agent Chamber of Commerce, this is not pretty.

They're the deductable business expenses.

"There's too much money in it" got it wrong. The only money going to Immigration is 1900 baht.

But it's still creating jobs for agents.

And govts need to create as many jobs as possible to keep the economy rolling.

You think this is funny. Noted.

I think you are trying to take over the govt and tell them how to do their job.

You are taking yourself too seriously.

Nobody put you in charge of immigration.

And now, I am not interacting with you anymore.

I understand once people dig in their heels, they fight to the death with their stance.

I am just noting that, in requiring TVC to overhaul there entire approach on their published advertising, the government may be just starting to do their job.

And I've dealt with it politely considering that people on here like to keep telling me:

Oh the law -- that's just a big nothing burger.

They will have to pay taxes on the entire B14K, but they can deduct the B1,900, along with most any other costs.

That you don't know that explains a lot.

It has nothing to do with taxes or expenses. They are just hinting at how to disguise side payments to immigration for them to waive the 800K baht for extension.

Indeed

This has to do with advertising law as in Consumer Protection Act, B.E. 2522 (1979). TVC restated their SEP advertising as to what was previously in their AUG advertising.

When they stated in AUG they charged a nebulous 14K baht with no breakdown, it was possible and roundly suggested on this website that a component of that 14K beyond the 1900 baht TM7 fee would be routed to IMM.

So it was possible that the expat who gave TVC the 14k baht could be held in violation of Thai Criminal 144 statute on offering a bribe to a public official "so as to induce such person to do or not to do any act".

Maybe yes or maybe no but TVC, in their advertising, according to the Consumer Product Act, maybe did not properly advise the expat that they were possibly engaging in such activity as to CPA 22 (3) Statement which is directly or indirectly encouraging the commission of an unlawful ... act.

Now in SEP they say there is a 1900 baht government fee and a 12,100 baht service fee none of which is claimed by TVC to involve any further (improper) payment to IMM.

Why don't you just punch the disagree button and stop telling me what I should or shouldn't do.

The topic here is about when there will be a visa agent crackdown. Maybe you are seeing here the first small crack.

I don't participate in such childish behavior as disagree buttons. I'm sensing some frustration on your part, hence the beach walk suggestion. it's great for the psyche.

You NEED to explain why you are so immersed in this subject, when the 100's of foreigners that use these services understand the process and just go with the flow. Overly fastidious ..more like an obsession.

You haven't posted one comment about anything to do with the change in TVC advertising -- just told me I should take a walk on the beach or get a new hobby.

Why should anyone need to explain why they are posting? Rather than attacking him, why not address what he says?

I am not bored, I love when one guy is posting facts and using reason, and everyone else is trying to shut him up.

As best I can tell, this change in advertising from AUG to SEP by TVC was not voluntarily.

Probably because it is pointless topic!

Those who do try to address his non topic just get abused so there is no point in trying to have any further dialogue with a fixated poster!
