Billy Bob's. Cowboy's Dance Hall.

This is the only one, out of those you mentioned, which sounds promising.

Thank you for your reply.

I assume you meant: Billy Bob's Cowboy Dance Hall, just one bar.

Don't think I have ever been in a Bar, thailand or any where else in the world.

You have not missed much of any value.

Most Bar-Girls are not high-value.

And, most drinks in bars are watered down.

Also, there are bar fights, of course.

And, in Texas, the bar floors are covered in sawdust.

Bars are noisy, too.

You are right to stay out of bars.

Especially, in Thailand.

The OP has been missing out on an integral part of Thai culture. It's where boy meets girl without inhibitions.

Hurry, it is not too late for you.

Those were the good old days.

After a time, one learns one's lesson.

Bluebonnet Palace (closed) Gruene Hall. 6th Street. Billy Bob's. Cowboy's Dance Hall. Pour House. Watering Hole. River Road Ice House. Lone Star Lounge. Speakeasy. The Hole in the Wall. Antone's. Stubb's BBQ. 11th Street Cowboy Bar.Many more small places that had live music I can't remember the names of.

That list sounds to me the kind a functioning alcoholic would make.

If you knew about Texas music scene, you would know everyone of those are good places, packed all the time, especially weekends but every time there's live music. Texas music scene is as large as any on earth. Austin is the live music capital of the world..

No, it's the places one goes to meet people, watch live music , dance and have fun. I was a wine connoisseur, and only drink wine, occasional beer and occasional tequila. A healthy lifestyle and will power kept me from drinking too much all my life.

Very few Texas bars are covered in sawdust. Most are just like all other bars and music venues. Some have live bullriding.

The people who go to these places aren't but your everyday all types, from millionaires to country farmers, businessmen to doctors and rednecks to ranchers, and everything in between.

Bars are noisy, as music to dance to is loud. In all the times I've been to bars,

The only fight I ever saw was when we were around 21, and involved a friend and a few others who went after him, and they didn't make out so well. There are also bars that are just like the ones here in tourist areas, and they're a different animal.

if you went to Texas and just drove around a little, you have less than a fraction of one percent knowledge of the state.

But, are the bars in Texas as big as your Texas Johnson?

I think not.

So, your children play with guns while watching women in bars ride bulls?

Sorry, but I do not understand.

This is not what most parents do in the North-East of the USA, on Chappaquiddick.

Johnson was an idiot, likely involved in Kennedy's demise.

A couple of my children have shot deer, some have guns in their homes, and we went to a couple of places to watch bull riding that were also bars and music venues, all ages allowed.

Of course I have. I've got friends.

About the only time I enter bars, to meet up with others, and that's a rare setting for. When living in Udon, we had a monthly meet up, actually pub crawl in the early days, then settled in at the night market or 1 restaurant, later on, as bars got old fast.

My porch in USA was always good for sipping with friends. Two taps in the front room, and pool with walkway from the front porch.

Everybody? See, you haven't been in the US for decades, so you have no idea how Americans think. There are many who dispute one shooter involved alone, as there is no way that happened.

You know @GammaGlobulin , you really should be more careful - your carefully constructed cover story, as an innocent abroad earnestly seeking the truth is slipping - the last couple of posts reveal a dirty old man revelling in lecherous double entendrés.

I mean, I am as keen on a spot of lechery as the next man, but you reallyshould try to be consistent!

Only one time and many years ago , they had live music and the band was Carabao

we had a good time ,but I am not a drinker ,maybe why I have survived so long here ,

and have more money than I came here with , I used to drink in my youth ,but it

caused me too much trouble ,so seen the light.

It was an entertainment center, with 3 bars, food, bull riding, live music, all in different rooms. The children had to be supervised, of course, and there were police inside. Millions had gone there when it was open, and people were pissed when they closed it down and it became a church, then reopened again Now it has 9 bars, live music outside, DJ inside. and food. I haven't been back since it reopened. .............https://bluebonnetpalace.com/.

Depends what kind of bar, as some serve tasty food, and or, themed for entertainment. My parents dragged us around to bars, crappy ones, and any luck, they had a pinball machine or pool table.

Actually my father used to do pretty well, spotting us shooting pool, as drunks usually don't shoot very well. After a certain age though, out was out working on my own, not bars.

Well, then what do your kids think about bull fighting?

Have they, like Hemingway, ever run before the bull?

I run from bull, as you know.

I cannot abide cruelty to animals.

So, instead of a bullfight....in Mexico.....

I will give you THIS bull fight......

Send the link to your friends in Texas, why don't you.....

Even though you think that abstinence might prolong your life,

Still, you, as other dinosaurs, can be taken down in a flash.

You don't know if there might be an asteroid up there with your name on it.

Do you sometimes miss the bar-girls?

The mob took out JFK.

I don't think Johnson had anything to do with it.

The mob helped JFK get elected. The family had long ties to the mob as his father was a bootlegger. Then JFK was doing things the mob didn't like.

Lee Harvey Oswald was a "distraction shot". It was meant to distract the crowd. It's not the shot that killed him.

The mob then paid Ruby to kill Oswald so Oswald wouldn't talk. Ruby was dying of cancer and heavy in debt to the mob.

Apparently, Joseph Kennedy also rigged the stock market.

Somewhere between a lot and nothing — it's depending which bars you are visiting — not all bars are so-called ladybars, at least where I live in Thailand...😉

I'm however not sure if you are serious or just joking...🤔🤣 — however, I kindly give you my experience of what you might have missed; and it's never too late to catch up...👍

Don't worry too much when finally visiting a bar; many customers don't care dress code — so, you dont need to wear white shirt, suit, black shoes and necktie — and behaviour can be relative free, as long as you don't fight or behave utterly rude. In some places entertainment can be quite amazing (don't forget TiT)...😜

P4120301-Dn-Ed_w600.jpg

Just one advise: Pay each order, instead of letting unpaid bills end up in a so-called "bin" — no, it's not the one used for garbage, it's a small device placed in front of you that can contain numerous handwritten bills — you might end up being surprised over how much you have spent. You might even forgot the number of lady drinks you gave to the beauties that came and sit next to you, and that you also rang the bell — there is a bell in many bars, ringing means that you buy a drink for every person, not only guests, in the venue — more than once...🤪

However, you can also dress fairly polite and order a soda with a slice of lemon — which is what I do, if I rarely visit a bar — and if giving a fair tips, and buying a drink for a lady, if one or more of them comes and sit with you, it makes you classy and attractive, instead of being considered as Cheap Charlie...🤫

If the bar has something like "go-go" in their name, it might be little special, more like attending a meat-market situated in the center of the room, with poles for the meat. The attending buyers — also called bar-guests — sits around the center on a kind tribune, like around the ring in a circus or a boxing-venue. If you are interested in a particular slice of delicious meat, it's easy to select one — all are numbered for your convenience — just tell the serving staff the meat's number you wish to taste; or numbers if you very hungry and needs more than one piece. And don't worry too much about renting a room nearby, that kind of service can often also be provided in those kinds of places, but for extended after-service a separate rented room might be advisable...😍

Advise: Stay sober until you have picked your choice, otherwise you might end up with one the "2..." — or both of then...🫨

Some bars are called "Sports Bar", and the ones of that kind in the area where I live don't play too loud music, and guests aften come to meet with pals, small talking and watch sports on big TV-screens together – most of those places also serves good reasonable priced meals...😋

A few bars can be quite hi-so — and some of those are boring, if you look for low-so action — here dress code of preferably white, relaxed style is preferred, and also a bit polite behaviour. However, trying to conversate with other guests — also some you don't know in advance — can be a bit difficult, as many of those places have a DJ that plays quite loud house-music (a music style). There might even be grand piano with lit candles on a roof terrasse, but it's not there for the music, just some highend interior decoration. Expect that your soda with a slice of lime and a few ice cubes will cost you somewhere between 100 baht and 250 baht, or more; I presume folks attending this upper shelf-level of entertainment don't care, might not even look at the bill, just flash a plastic card, or more likely a metal-card...🤑

wIMG20220819004512_Rich-Club_w600.jpg

And then there is the balance in selecting bars — if you are not in favour for beer bars of the so-called "ladybar" style — where larger venues might not have the lady-staff you often hear about. But you can still meet plenty of attractive females — be aware, some of them very can be transgender men — they are called "freelancers", just like the knights in the novel "Ivanhoe", because they are free to pick whatever walking ATM that might seem of most financial interest. However, you can easily just attend for pleasure and conversate with new friends, the freelance ladies will not flock around you, like in a ladybar...😄

Me, I prefer beach parties — you however need to live in an area with a beach to find such one — and clubs; i.e., night clubs, which are just some larger bars that opens late and are open till around sunrise. There might be go-go dancers, but they don't wear numbers — don't think that they are same-same as when in the meat market. Music can be relative loud and performed both by DJs — most common — and live acts between DJ-sets. Attending places like these, you might need to rent a room nearby and stuff you pockets, or load one's ATM-card, in case you expect to order a bottle of champagne or spirits — and especially if ordering more than one...crazy

Beach party...

wIMG20230105001702_Ark-Bar_w800.jpg

Go-go dancers in a night club are same-same, but different...

Nightclub-dancers_IMG_5700_w512.jpg

Be aware of your spendings, so places can be a bit big-spender-venue...

wIMG20260214000543_Minimum-spend_h800.jpg

Especially if you order more than 1 bottle of champagne...

wIMG20240708013215_Champagne-serving_800.jpg

Otherwise, just fully enjoy the night out, no matter if on soda (like me) og more intoxicating stuff...😊
