Title says it all.

This was at Suan Phlu. The official returned my photocopies and this info is confirmed by the big green board there which states what documents are required for respective applications.

In the past 4 years (and 10+ re-entry permits) I've never had to copy my passport...not for non-B or non-ED, Suan Phlu or airport :o

Indeed. However if you go to the link on this site entitled 're-entry permits', it states you require copies of your passport.
