So, a program for a flight training school that target enrollment of 50% blacks, would not be a DEI program, but a program that determined that blacks are better suited to be baggage handlers than pilots, would be a DEI program, correct? I would be against that.

I am against most any program that divides people by demographics to determine how they should be treated. In fact, I find that appalling, People should be treated as individuals, not as demographic groups.

You are getting a bit scary.

See here you go putting a spin on something you obviously dont know about and painting it wrongly for your own agenda. Here's a test for you since you want to have intelligent dialogue.

Google the usa statistics on workforce demographic by race and gender then do the same for united airlines past demographics for pilots.

Then look at what scott kelly discussed as a target (not fixed) enrollment for flight school and you will see he is attempting to match avaklable Candidate demographics to what the current workforce demographics are to make a level playing field of available talent and get rid of the biased hiring practices of the past.

You do that honestly and then we can discuss it. You might actually see what dei is, not what you think

As I understand it, DEI programs favor one group over another. If that is not correct, is there anyone that can define what a DEI program is?

I do not need anyone calling me ignorant and a moron, I know all of that. Nor do I need anyone to call me a MAGA of some-such and tell me to do my own research.

Please just explain how a DEI program works.

I already did but you ignore whats given and refuse to do simple research. That is classic ignorance in not wanting facts about a subject but talking like you know

I am not "spinning" anything. Your exact words: "Do you even know what DEI programs are? They dont target hiring they are a measurement tool of what the demographics are and how your utilizing those group effectively to ensure everyone is treated appropriately ."

I have spun nothing, You stated clearly that DEI programs divide by demographic groups to decide how the groups are to be treated. For you to say otherwise is simply to lie.

You went on to say: "Its not what you read in the sensationalized GOP news stories promoting them as discrimatory or racial bias...". The way you define it, seems to me to be much worse than just favoring one group over another for hiring, I think an argument can be made for that, but how you have defined DEI it is Evil.

Now, if you want to say, hey that's not what I meant, and provide a definition of DEI that is not so horrific, fine, please provide a definition that you support.

Incidentally, you seem to be implying that United Airlines is, or at least was institutionally biased. Do you have anything that supports that claim?

Really. It does not work as it's definition by the instigators says it should. You know, that party that you voted for who got that crap going. You just listen to them right? It's all over the place how people who should have been hired on merit were passed over for ones with less experience and training. Seems that Charlie Kirk was only telling the truth and so am I. Bye, bye.

It is worth nothing, that the left has no interest in elevating members of "marginalized groups" unless they toe the leftist line.

Im calling this issue out as its been convoluted into something its not by trumpettes and MAGA. Show us some examples of DEI mandated hiring guidelines for government agencies. DEI mandated tracking and management of the levels of diversity doesnt count. Actual mandates or quotas set for hiring diversity as the main criteria over experience or merit. I'll wait while you look.

With all due respect Dan it is available to search and find many examples of huge amounts of funding for new DEI education facilities that the previous gov't put in place. Can I find you actual, as you say, DEI hiring guidelines? No sorry not looking but you are welcome to. There are a number of people that were passed over for jobs when they were more qualified then others. Something to do with merit and not hiring on it. Here's just one example of that, oh and by the way this is the first time I have read anything on this web site. Don't know anything about it. Perhaps the guy was just an idiot who got passed over...who knows: https://www.iwfeatures.com/profile/26-year-secret-service-veteran-denied-promotion-in-favor-of-unqualified-dei-picks-under-biden-admin/

DEI is illegal.

I'm really sick of hearing about Charlie Kirk.

@Dan O, What’s with the downvote? Making hiring decisions based on someone's race is illegal.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employers from making employment decisions because of an applicant’s race. That applies regardless of whether the decision disadvantages a minority applicant or a White applicant. The EEOC explicitly states that race cannot be used as a basis for hiring, firing, promotion, pay, training, or other employment decisions.

As am I. Maybe tell your hate-filled comrades that gleefully celebrated the anniversary of his assassination to quiet down about it.

The same people likely support the eradication of Israel.

You must be proud.

No, Dan wants everyone separated into demographic groups such that they can be treated according to their group.

That's how Dan rolls, because Dan's was a Republican until Trump don't you know!

I never paid much attention to Charlie Kirk until I saw the unedited video of him getting shot, which was shocking. My issue is with the people who vandalize anything related to Charlie Kirk. I wish the left would stop being immature <deleted>.

I did actually. I very much disliked him.

Dan does not care about the law, Dan cares about separating everyone into demographic groups such that they can be treated appropriately, and Dan believes DEI is just the tool to do that!

I very much dislike Obama, but if he were assassinated, I would not gleefully celebrate, nor would I disparage him in death.

And I doubt very much you listened to more than a few short clips.

If basketball was subject to DEI hiring rules would the standard of the game be improved by reducing the number of black guys playing the sport whilst at the same time increasing the number of whites on the pitch ?

of course not DEI has no place in a civilised democracy it should be banned

Are you literally that clueless?

DEI means people of certain ethnic, sexual, or other groups are not excluded based on their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender as they used to be. It doesn't mean they are given pilot's jobs because they are black, lesbian, or anything else. It levels the playing field, don't be an idiot.

In your analogy if white people had been excluded from basketball recruitment on the basis of being white alone then that would be wrong. If rules were passed so that colour/race could not be a consideration in who was considered for recruitment than that would be good, right? White people and black people being considered on merit and not being excluded because of race.

You have a problem with that?

Are you saying that DEI does not favor one group over another?

If not, how does it work?
