Bought Corsair xms2 ddr2 800 (1gig) .. came in pair (512 each) .. i tried installing it one at a time .. strange thing is one of it would boot up fine while the other one wont boot at all !!! is this common , or should i return it to DCOM ?

Anyway, if both is installed it would boot up fine. The problem is i have problems playing games with this memory. The games i tried were Tiger woods 2008 and Lost Planet. It would stutter and not smooth like it should be. Sometimes it would just return me to the desktop !!

So i installed my old memory Kingston 1gig (512*2) ddr2 667...and didnt get any probs with the games at all !!!

how to verify if my corsair ram is bad ? is it possible that the ram is NOT compatible with my mobo ?

you know how mobo ram slots have colors like ORANGE BLACK ORANGE BLACK .. is it important if i installed one of the ram into orange the other one must be in the other orange ?

thanx

cheers ...

Ok, it sounds like you have a bad chip. I'd take it back and ask for a replacement.

I can't find any compatibility issues anywhere.

I wonder why you replaced 667 with 800 memory ... there's not a lot of difference between them.

BTW Trying to play Lost Planet with a 2600 is almost impossible.

If one memory module works and the other not, it is a bad memory module. And yes your main board supports 128 bit memory, to use this function you need to use both orange or both black memory slots.

I agree with Snifdog that replacing 667Mhz memory with 800Mhz memory will not make your computer much faster, I belief with the games you play you will see more improvement if you use 2GB memory.

Also your main board is already a bit old, check the Asus website if you can find any BIOS updates which will improve memory timing and compatible issues.
