After having super expensive IPStar for 4 months I've managed to get out of the 1 year contract and will be changing to TOT ADSL hopefully next week! I will be linking 3 computers together (via router) and wondering what speed connection I should get...the most obvious answer would be the fastest (?), but I've read several times that it was a waste of money to get the 1,024/512 and that 512/256 was pretty much equal??? Anyone switched between the 2 speeds before, if so what was the result??

One comp will be for downloading movies/tv shows possibly (never done it but want to start) and all 3 are for general internet browsing, not gaming. Hope this all makes sense.

Thanks heaps!

Makes a difference. Use a multithread downloader manager or multi connection newsgroup downloader you will hit 105-115 kb/sec on 1024/512 on TOT adsl and 512/256 u will get 50kb/sec.

If you are using usenet for your tv / movies then 1024 is well worth it.

Depends what you use it for. No difference in browsing speeds or Pings for gaming.

I have 2x Pc's + 2x internet connected TV's

The max one can get here in the sticks is the 256/128 package [only option is True + there sub station is to far away to get a higher speed

All work well, but if all 4 are on together the main TV will freeze for a couple of seconds every so often.

If TT&T is an option they are doubling speeds for free.

My 1024 acct has been doubled for about a week now.

If TT&T are in your area it is worth checkingout.

Likewise True, if you live within a short distance of a sub station they upgrade your connection from basic 256/128 to 1024 for the same 590 baht per month

Unfortunately TOT is my only option here as I'm too far away from town to get TT&T. That's an excellent deal for the same price. I signed up for the 1024/512 and get it put on tomorrow. Hope it doesn't disappoint!
