steveromagnino
Tickets to go an watch in Singapore now - Wed and sat at 30 and 40 SGDyou have to sign not to reveal results. Fair enough. But for me we can watch great fights locally, so I think I may pass up on the chance to go to Sunny Shinapore for that one.... let me know my PM if you go along though Prakanong. Shane Choppa Chapman would have been my pick to be in this, he is one of the few farangs to have put on a good showing here at Lumpini etc (Parr is another) and has excellent lateral movement; I've watched him fight since his second fight in NZ, and the guy is super talented; trains up here in Thailand, maybe the money wasn't enough or something?! I heard they were having problems already getting foreigners who could match the Thais for the show before; maybe it is back on course, but why wouldn't you go for the best farang in town?! Tingnongnoi
there are no top Dutch fighters in it either, 3 or 4 top level fighters and the rest average at best, this is way too overhyped for what it is

I would have thought it a bit insulting to suggest Yodsaenklai is any sort of contender; he is a frigging champ! So is Parr!
Tingnongnoi
I would say Bruce Macfie will have more of a chance than the others, bu can't see past Yodsanklai to be honest
Jimjim
The point of the Contender show in the U.S. is to showcase up and coming fighters and no-names.
Ritti
PARR TO WIN BY FAR, He has the best record (and has fought the best fighters) He demolished Bruce in Aust a few times Still it's always good to watch "the gunslinger"
Tingnongnoi
he has a good record yes, but wouldn't say it was the best, Yodsanklai has beaten him already and dropped him for an 8 count in that fight with a high kick
Ritti
will it be on T.V?? I am a big fan of these shows (although u never know what's a set up) Hopefully Parr stays a bit in Bangkok (and has a fight)

rixalex
The first series of The Contender was very good viewing, but the second was terrible. Although i don't rate Stallone movies, it was obvious that without his participation the show lost a great deal. So the thought of them going for a third doesn't wet the appetite. And if the Asia version of The Amazing Race is anything to go by, i really have a bad feeling about it. Also, as someone else pointed out, the whole point of The Contender is to showcase up and coming talent, or those that tried before and failed. Is that what this show is going to do? ashacat
Just saw the first eposode on AXN. The farang guy (Trevor, I think) got completely leathered by the Thai guy. Not a bad show, fairly entertaining and just about as cheesed up as you would expect.

How about playing muaythai music, after all its about muaythai fighting isnt it? Trevor was out of his depth against the Thai, but put in a good effort. Ritti
I am still confused as to why it was held in Singapore, not the home of Muay Thai, Thailand Also Stephan Fox is the main man????? Looking at his comments he stats "I held many titles with different sanctioning bodies - I won a world title with a kickboxing body, I won the Kings cup championship once, I won the intercontinental , commonwealth title, south pacific title. I held pretty much all there was at that time" "When I moved to Australia I already was pretty much advanced in muaythai and was fighting professionally then. I had over 100 ring fights so at that time I was actually teaching and fighting at the same time." Well I still have my money on John Wayne Parr-Yodsaenklai final with the winner being the smarter fighter (must move if you stand infront of these twe you will be hurt)
CarlBkk
Guys, last year there was a televised muay thai competition held in Singapore with a blonde Aussie guy (with vicious elbows) beating a black Canadian in the final. What was the Aussie's name? Wouldn't mind checking his fights on youtube.

CarlBkk
Amazing stuff. This guy just seems born to fight. I just can't see him getting beaten by anyone and don't think he's lost yet according to google.
Ritti
Watch the contender Last night? John W Parr was a little sloppy (I hate that they only show you what they want you to see, 5 by 3 min round and they show a total of 4mins fighting) I think JWP just wanted to knock him out. Frenchie-He wasn't so lippy when the blue team lost the challenge The "tough and extremely challenging" CHALLENGE was just a mini circuit, these guys hardly raised a sweat. It wasn't so much physical just quick transition from one station to another Well I still love it yet I think they could of done a much better job with it

Tingnongnoi
Nathan has at least one loss on his record, when he went up to heavyweight and got caught with a big high kick and stopped, forget the name of his opponent an American, but was in Japan last year sometime
