D-link Dsl-210 Usb Modem On Imac (maxnet)

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I'm on Maxnet Indy using the D-Link DSL210 USB modem under windows XP without problems. I'm planning to buy an Apple iMac. Is there a Mac OSx driver available for this modem or do I need to change the modem for an Ethernet type modem (which?). As reply from Maxnet / TT&T is just as fast as their services I would be glad with any advise.

Thanks

Apple Mac's, Linux Boxes or even MS Windows Vista all have problems using the simplest USB modems around. Most USB modems, with some tweaking and 3th party drivers can work with Mac Os-X and Linux.

For people with not to much technical know-how or short temper I can advice to buy a Ethernet router/modem combination. Prices of this router/modem combination are now around the 2000 Baht, and you get even more options then most of us need. The new D-link DSL-2640T combines 4 port switch, router, firewall, ADSL modem and Wi-Fi (wireless) access point all in a small box for around 1990 Baht.

If I compare the easy use of my current Ethernet equipment over the first Billion Bipac-7000 USB modem I ever try to install with Linux I would pay 2000 Baht without blinking an eye.
