September 24, 200718 yr A friend of my wife's has an aunt who was deported from Japan for overstaying a tourist visa. She (the aunt) now wants to try to get a tourist visa to the US. I told her that she didn't have a snowball's chance in h---. Even if she somehow met the requirements for getting a tourist visa (good job, money in the bank, ties to her homeland and a history of not abusing visa's), I was pretty sure that Japan was among the countries that shares it's immigration info with the US. Any other opinions?

Overstay is abuse of a visa. Undeniable, unless you're one of those that feel the rules only apply to other people...
