Hello,

After getting a 1 year "O" visa, I will soon move with my son to Thailand.

I want to take my computer (a 2 year Macintosh)

and my son his Xbox 360 entertainment system

Somebody knows if some taxes will be asked for this material ?

Thanks for the information

Please bear in mind that all non-cultural/moral rules in Thailand are in a constant state of flux.

I brought my desktop PC with me & even though it was "used", I could not produce the receipt(s) for the purchase of it. For this, I was charge a percentage of its value (I forget what it was now).

You can be lucky & not pay a cent (lazy customs officer) but if I were you, I'd find those receipts to prove ownership of used goods. If you can do this, you will not be charged a cent.

I came in with two PC and a printer all used and still had receipt to prove it. Stuff was two years old. Its still new import to Thailand and highly taxed. They wanted to take everything even my video camera and other personel goods I would never see again. They wanted 1,600US cash. That was as much as I had paid for most of the stuff in the first place. Setted matter with 200US dollar cash. Not much else one can do 1am in the morning at don muang airport. That was near 8 years ago, but I would assume nothing has changed. You can carrie a laptop cam and stuff, but don't have excess baggage or you get pulled to the side. I had other stuff shipped and cumtoms is a pay who you know to get it back deal. If it wasn't for the family pic and other things I would have let them keep the box. :D I would never bring in or ship anything to or from Thailand again nor should anyone. don't feed the animals :o

There is no real answer to this. As stated above, it's never the same for each person. You might get lucky and not pay a dime (baht) or you might have to pay huge duties.

Normal Import Duty for a complete Computer system is 0-5 % while for Entertainment equipment is up to 65%. According to the existing Law of Thailand, all personal stuff which was used for more then 2 Year from YOU in YOUR Home Country is Import Duty Free. But this didn't includes Entertainment Equipment!

For to bring personell belongings to Tahiland means that you'll need for each single item the Receipt of buying. You should although have a detailed list of ALL what you want to bring in this Country.
