Australian Work Visa Help

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im going to study in Thailand for a year beginning this November. After my studies have finished i was thinking of applying for a work visa to Oz. Im British, 33 years of age, an Electrician (apparently its on the skilled occupations list) my current job title is Electrical Technician. Ill be leaving my current job to go study in Thai language and culture in Bangkok.

I really would like to be able to apply for this work visa in Thailand just as my studies come to an end. I just wanted to know if there were any legitimate agencies in Bangkok that could help me with the process of applying for said work visa to Oz.

Thanks for any help u can offer,

Brett

Hi there,

You can apply over the internet for a oz working visa, at little cost.

Takes 3 days to recieve i believe.

The reason i know this, my mates were out there last year working.

I may be wrong but i think you need sufficent funds in your account for a working visa, £3000 i believe, but i maybe wrong.

Contact DIAC at the Australian Embassy in London and ask for information on the 457 visa, you are probably over the age limit for a working holiday visa which does not allow you to work more than a limited time with any one employer.

The 457 visa requires sponsorship by an Australian employer. There are licenced immigration agents in Australia that can help but the decision to whether you meet the criteria to issue a visa is made by the Dept of Immigration and Citizenship.

One would not recommend applying in Bangkok.
