All Lights Are Off At The Airport

There are no lights on at the Airport at ll.

Also just saw a plane landing on the East runnway had its lights on.

All is O.K. power is back on.

Sorry but is was a shock to me.

Even so that's about 10 minutes with no airport lighting, I thought that wasn't supposed to be able to happen.

And the backup gen-set was where??

One can only hope that the ATC system has a properly sized and installed UPS.

there should at least be emergency lights comming on authomatically when the power to the main lighting is off. They usually run on batteries - generators would be used for the other equipment.

My thinking also, but there was nothing but blackness, until till the plane landed on the East Runway in the dark.

Jeezz it gave me the fright of my life when seeing this (total darkness).

I am in my office overlooking the Terminal on the West Runway.

Must admit thou it was teeming it down with Lighting in the background, so just maybe the rain was that bad that I could not see the Terminal, but then I did see the plane landing way over on the East Runway during the rain and no ground lights (motorway street lights) behind that plane as they should have been there.

I have it on good authority that alien life forms waited until dark before removing the airport to their home planet in order to determine why it doesn't work properly - it was returned ten minutes later and they are still non the wiser.
