Incidentally, do any of you real cyclists resent, as I do, the way the terms "bikes" and "biking" have been commandeered my motorcyclists?

Bikes - as in two-wheeled, human powered, pedaled vehicles - were around before the invention of the motor cycle.

It is bad enough to see the words misused on magazines about motor-cycling, but it is a serious affront when Thai Visa uses them in its Motoring sub-forum!

Bikes with engines are motorbikes or motorcycles. I think that it is mainly Americans who refer to motorbikes as bikes. It is annoying that we see topics like 'Biking in Bangkok' or 'I've just bought a new bike' and we click on the page and see that it is about motorbikes.

There's motorcycle, and bicycle. Bike is slang for each.

No big deal.

Certainly hyperbolic to tag it as an "outrage". :o

Sorry - I should have added for the benefit of those who don't understand irony that my reference to Thai Visa was facetious.
