Associates Degree

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, first off let me say what a wonderful site this is, as many before me have said I will say also I'm so glad I've found it. Anyway, on to my question. I will be earning my associates degree within the next couple of months in Early Childhood Education at a local accredited school here in the u.s. In the states this would allow me to be a kindergarten teacher, pre-k teacher or daycare administrator. I'm hoping to teach in TL and I've read many of the posts on the forum regarding having a degree or not having a degree and, well I guess my question is this, coupled with a course in TEFL or the like how could I reasonably expect to find a job teaching in TL, could I find a 30000/mo job with that degree behind me. I know this is a rather general question with tons of variables(motivation, hard work...) but I guess I'm asking more specifically about the Associates degree and whether it will help qualify me for work. BTW I am a native spanish speaker as well as english speaker. I am a u.s citizen who grew up in Panama and intended on returning there after my studies but after having been to TL four times now(absolutely love the culture) I would like to teach there. Thanks to everyone who can give me some more info. GS...

That goes to show you that a good search of the forum can (sometimes) answer most of the questions! Case closed.
