Got a friend here on a one year multiple entry Non-B visa issued in the U.S. last summer.  He's just completed his first border run at the end of 90 days.  He'd like to apply for the one-year "retirement extension" next month.

My impression is/was that he has to wait until the last 30 days of the validity of his visa to apply, which is June or so 2008.  At least this seemed to be the case a few years back under Immigration's rules.

Thoughts?

He can apply during the last 30 days of any current entry. So he should wait two months from his present entry date to apply for the extension of stay.

Thanks, I'll pass that on to him.  FYI, he's a USAF retiree of some years past, Thai wife & building a house down Pran Buri way.  Living at the Lat Prao area while building going on.
