So, in this digital day and age, what website do you prefer for photosharing? Is one better than another and why? I use snapfish as I can also order prints but wonder if anyone else has something better or faster for uploading?

Picassa is excellent - free to download and you do all the manipulation on your PC before you upload to the internet. You can send links in emails to all your friends.

Flickr is technically very good, with a large user base. The search is probably the best (ruined only by the users themselves), and the cost to have full capabilities ("pro") is very cheap. There are some accusations of censorship, but it's to be expected. Lots of ways to organize, and the presentation of photos is also good.

Other sites, like Smugmug, are ok, but so far I haven't seen any that can match Flickr in terms of sheer completeness.

I like the idea of people being able to order prints from my online photos--that way I don't have to send them any copies :o

Does Flickr offer that too?

Good topic!

I think the correct spelling is Picasa (one s only).

I use myfotopic.net. You get 250mb for free and then you pay 5 pound per 250MB after that. I have had it for a few years now and have never had to buy any extra space.

Hmm, there isn't actually a "myfotopic.net" (you get directed to a parked URL). The right url is www.fotopic.net.

Multiply is nice in that you can do a lot of things (blogs, vids, pics, etc), but you need to subscribe to see the albums, and the various features are fairly limited (again, the "jack of all trades, master of none" rule applies here).

I got tired of sending emails with attached pics of my baby as the list of people asking grew and grew. Facebook, Flickr and the likes are all blocked at work so i ended up creating a website just for my baby pics/movies. It's easy for me and when anyone else asks i just give them the homepage address. The only downfall is it's not free like the sharing sites.

I use shutterfly and flickr

good for online sharing, and yes people can order prints. at least with shutterfly.

advantage of shutterfly is theres no maximum upload per month. flickr has some limit

enjoy :o
