Ebay Favour Needed

I need to buy a service guide for my laptop, and the only place I can find one is on Ebay. The problem is that I'm banned from using Ebay for reasons they are not able to fully explain, but I believe it's due to trying to sell a banned item about 3 years ago...

Is there anyone with an Ebay account who is prepared to message the user selling the service guide asking them to contact me via email to arrange to buy one? I'll pay via PayPal then they know they have the money.

Please PM me if you think you can help, and comment here to say as such.

cheers,

Mark...

You can set up a new eBay account, and even have it tied to your existing PayPal account. My eBay account was somehow hijacked, no negative problems for me, but eBay basically closed my account and recommended I open a new one. I just did this yesterday. Really quite easy.

You can set up a new eBay account

Believe me, I can't. I have no credit card or paypal account that isn't associated with the suspended (and under appeal) account.

I have tried previous to getting the appeal lodged and after a day or so the new account is banned as 'seeming to be related to a previously suspended account'. Now the appeal has been recognised and my account will be unsuspended in April, frankly I don't want to mess about in any way that might cause them to not unsuspend it.

So - will you help?

Yes, it would be against Ebay's Ts&Cs.

Though if someone wants to buy it for me, I'll make a transfer to their PayPal account to pay the seller, if you give them my email address to send the pdf to.

It's only 3 quid. It's just something I need and need some help to get hold of it.

Eh!! In 5 months time?? Whats going on there???

Suspensions are reviewed 12 months after the account is suspended. My powerseller account was suspended in Apr 07 after not being used since Jul 05 after being used for about 9 months with no problems, apparently because of something I tried to sell on a different account around Oct 04. But I can't remember and they won't tell me. So I wait for the review date.

I dont think anyone is going to help with this. Sounds a bit iffy .IMHO.

Either someone will want to help me out, or they won't. Read into it what you will. If you think I'm going to scam someone over a ukp2.95 pdf file...well why do you think I'd bother?

May it's not because of the amount of money but about, what asians telling "FACE"! No one knows why you're banned, what's happens at that time pp. and you can tell a lot or a little but no one knows it's true!

I wouldn't do this too, honest! I was once loosing my good name with this kind of help and will never do it again!

The person who has PM'd me offering to help will gain no 'face' from anyone else as a result. But he has restored my faith that sometimes people will just help someone out because they can.

I agree. They have to trust that I'm not a liar.

I wouldn't do this too, honest! I was once loosing my good name with this kind of help and will never do it again!

Then I hope that if you are ever in need yourself, that you find someone who will help you.

I do think you don't understand what I'm talking about! May it's because of my bad english but may you don't want to understand!

In the past I've help a lot others and get a lot kick in my ass later. I even helped others until today doesn't matter what's happens in the past! But there are two exeptions: Money and Name!

Both of that I've lose a lot too and that's something I didn't like under any circumstances!

And now one very serious question: How you can trust anyone and give your good name if that person have loose hims good name already! And this is something a copmplete Stranger is asking for, that other humans give their good name!

Even from people I know I would do such things only after getting some Guaranty and a proof!

May you're a serious guy but maybe not! I don't know that and other who don't know you didn't know this too! And very honest: I would NEVER EVER ask on an open public forum for such action and help! Personally I've friends enough which I can ask at any time!

Don't get me wrong, this is nothing personal, I would do it same with any other humans as I desribed above!

You seem to be saying about your personal experiences where you've frequently tried to help people, and that sometimes it hasn't worked out good for you. And that you don't like it when as a result you lose money, or where it makes you (your name) look bad. Yes?

And now one very serious question: How you can trust anyone and give your good name if that person have loose hims good name already! And this is something a copmplete Stranger is asking for, that other humans give their good name!

I'd ask questions until I was happy to make a judgment call based on what answers I got. I might decide at a very early level of information that I was not prepared to help the person, or I might decide to ask loads of questions because I really wanted to help, but wanted to make sure there were no holes in their story.

May you're a serious guy but maybe not! I don't know that and other who don't know you didn't know this too!

I agree - they will have to make their own judgment on whether I'm genuine or not. I suppose it might require a little faith to fill in the gap between being completely sure, and taking the risk for the sake of ukp3.

And very honest: I would NEVER EVER ask on an open public forum for such action and help! Personally I've friends enough which I can ask at any time!

A very fair comment. I'm pleased you have enough friends to ask, and am comfortable in stating that none of my Thai friends have Ebay accounts, that only one of my farang friends and acquaintances in Thailand definitely has an Ebay account is not a close enough friend to impose a request like this on, and my UK friends and family don't check their emails frequently. Hence why I thought it might be quicker to ask generally for help here.

I'm comfortable relying on the kindness of strangers, and try to repay this when I can.

Don't get me wrong, this is nothing personal, I would do it same with any other humans as I desribed above!

Not taken personally at all :-) I have no problem that people have differing opinions.

Pm me, mike

Cheers Mike, but someone else is already on this for me and I don't think it's fair for the seller to get more than one contact about the item. Actually, the item closing date has been reached and he's not relisted so I might have even more difficulty getting hold of it than I've had already!

When the thought "Oh - I haven't flashed a BIOS upgrade in Windows before" was going through my mind, little did I realise it would lead to this ;-)

  • 1 year later...

The only thing you can do is ditch the accounts, wipe cookies off computer and setn yourself up with a differently spelt name and new address, perhaps attaching an internet card. On no account link or cross reference.

In all honesty it must be no payment of bills or something quite serious, you wouldn't get this for one transgrssion and it's relatively easy to get an account reinstated.

So you're recommending setting up a false identity to trade with?

I did actually look into getting an internet card, or one of the pre-pay cards, but set to a real address, and found that to be extremely difficult too. Most of the companies I looked into had no reputation, but this was a while ago and things might've changed since then.

I actually did resolve the matter and did get my original account reinstated. I believed it involved senidng proof of ID, and proof of address in the UK, and my case had to be reconsidered. The exchange of emails trying to get this sorted out went on for a few months, but once they approved my appeal I just had to wait some months...or was it a year...until the account was usuable.

But someone from here did get me the file I needed. I had searched quite thoroughly on the net before buying this one, and I do know how to search thoroughly [reference to another comment].

In all honesty it must be no payment of bills or something quite serious, you wouldn't get this for one transgrssion and it's relatively easy to get an account reinstated.

I had my main account which was a powerseller account. I also had other accounts that, on times, I had tried to sell things that were against Ebay policy - I had listed some thinly disguised soft porn that got withdrawn, a set of knuckledusters that I decided not to sell in the end, and maybe one or two other things. And I did get warnings for selling 'not for resale' promo audio CDs on my powerseller account - some distributors get upset about that sort of thing, but I wasn't aware of that at the time.

The one that actually got me banned was listing a bong. I didn't even know it was against eBay policy, so it was not a deliberate attempt to be naughty, unlike some of the others for which nothing happened. They pulled that secondary account, then let me continue to trade for another 6 months, and it was only when I tried to use the powerseler account a couple of years later that I found out about this. I'd received no emails or anything.

So 'in all honesty' it was wasn't about non-payment of bills, and in my opinion was not about anything particularly serious. In Ebay's opinion, it was serious but not serious enough for them to do anything about it quickly. How serious you think the matter is is up to you. I don't know where you get the 'wouldn't get this for one transgression' as eBay policy states otherwise. And if your experience of having an account reinstated is that is was 'relatively easy', then I'm pleased for you. If you have no experience of having an eBay account reinstated...well...why would you say such a thing?
