I've just been connected to the (drink)water system.

Now I want a kind of filter so that I do not need to buy my drinkwatr anymore but just take it from the filter.

I have seen several.

With uv filter or without?

Small pump/tank attached.

Steel filters or plastic? (I see there are always 3 filters)

Watersupply is not very well and is sometimes stopped or on a low pressure for about 2 hours. (or longer)

When starting up the water looks red (=sand).

This is the Esan so I do not worry about this but I want a good drinkwater.

What kind of filter do you think I need?

I bought one of the larger four stage stainless steel filters. The first stage is a sediment filter. The second is an activated charcoal filter, the third is a resin filter that is basically useless unless you want your drinking water softened. The final filter is a ceramic filter. The activated charcoal filter removes many things including any odors. The ceramic filter removes everything else. It needs to be cleaned when the water runs very slowly. The activated charcoal should be replaced about every six months or so. We have been using ours for a couple of years now and have had no problems. The UV light supposedly kills any organisms but from researching it, no way can they get through the ceramic filter anyways.

It takes quite a bit of pressure to push water through the filter. I actually have a small pump just for the drinking water. It only gets plugged in when my wife fills the water bottles. We use empty liter Pepsi or Coke bottles and keep them in a refrigerator.

We were buying those big translucent plastic bottles of water. One day I took the lid off one and thought I saw something in the water. It had mosquito larvae swimming around inside the bottle. I decided that filters were at least better than that.

Yes I am sure must of the transluscent bottle suppliers are just like "Del Boy" with his Peckham Spring. Just take a sniff at it, it is government tap water IMHO.

Only one time have have I had the nasty craps (as in double over pain) and that was from a bad roadsite fried egg..... relax
