Making a roundtrip in January via Tokyo (Narita airport) and was wondering if 2.5 hours from arrival to departure of connecting flight is enough time for Narita airport? Have not done a connections in Narita before.

plenty of time! Narita very efficient, even with strict security checks.

Northwest Airlines schedules some sixty-minute connections between flights at Narita. You have plenty of time but still, you shouldn't dawdle getting through the security check for connecting passengers. The lines can be long.

If you are up for a little adventure, 2.5 hours isn't enough to get out and explore, although you will make it through to your next flight just fine.

If you have 5+ hours I'd suggest getting out and checking out Narita, as I did in this trip report:
