I am looking for either a very good language school (preferred; 1:1 course) or a qualified and studied German teacher to teach German to my Thai wife in preparation for the German marriage visa in or around Pattaya.

I know that we may use the Goethe Insitute or Inlingua in Bangkok but would like to stay in Pattaya.

Unfortunately I do not find any valuable information on the Internet.

Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

there's no knowledge of german required for a "marriage visa". get married and register your marriage with the german embassy in BKK. the visa for your wife canNOT be refused! a language test is only mandatory when your wife applies for german citizenship.

Unfortunately this is not correct. Since 28/08/07 Germany wants proof of the so-called language test "A1" (basic German knowlegde). This is due to the new immigration laws in Germany.

Any advice?

OOPS! just called the embassy, talked to an acquaintance and was shocked to hear that indeed proof of basic german is nowadays required. i was however told that "lenience" might be applied if the delay in issuing the visa means "considerable hardship" for any of the partners (not to be published - nur für den Dienstgebrauch!) = gummiparagraph den du ausnutzen kannst!

prepare your case, go to BKK and demand to see the chancellor. best of luck to you and your better half!
