According to the link provided by Giddyup,if you are living in Oz, you can submit documents online via the MyGov portal.

If overseas, by mail only. By June 30. Or through an embassy.

Another example of screwed-up bureaucracy.

Surely we are all supposed to get a letter advising us of these requirements?

From the link you posted.

Centrelink will notify pensioners via mail, SMS, and MyGov notifications regarding the documentation update process.

Was just a heads up by Giddyup.

I'm sure people will be advised if it's correct.

The last letter I got from Centrelink re Proof of Life took 2 months to get to me, past the due date for me to return it. I have asked to be contacted via email but that's too technical for Centrelink.

I'm not sure TBH.

Either way I'm sure people will find out soon if it's legit.

Presumably I would get a letter at my Australian address.

For those living overseas without any address at Centrelink, I suppose they should follow your link.

The Honorary Consulate in Chiang Mai closed in 2023. I guess the only route is mail to the Bangkok embassy.

Problem is, if it is not legit then clicking on the link may be a virus invitation. I would have thought the link would be mygov.

The link is just a website.

If it's correct, the link said SMS, mail or Mygov.

As the start date is June 5, I'm starting to think it isn't.

I already explained, I just grabbed the first site that had the info. There are plenty of others if you care to look, the info is the same. Don't get fixated.

Starting June 5, 2025, Centrelink is introducing major updates to the Age Pension system in Australia. The new rules require all Age Pension recipients to submit updated personal, identity, and financial documents to remain eligible for continued payments. Failure to comply could result in suspension or cancellation of benefits.

It says All Age Pension recipients, no mention of 80 or older.

Notifications have begun via MyGov, SMS, and postal mail, and the update is mandatory for all Age Pensioners by June 30, 2025.

This June 5 nonsense is all misinformation and clickbait. Here's a genuine Centrelink press release warning about it.

Fake information about Centrelink payments - Managing your money - Services Australia

Edit: for some reason, the above won't post as a link. Copy and paste to get the URL.

If I fell for the clickbait of false information I apologize for posting the info here. It's not beyond possibility that Centrelink would be asking aged pensioners to provide the info I listed, but if they haven't, mea culpa.

There's quite a few options, police officer, lawyer, etc, etc. I have used both a police officer (free) for my Comsuper pension and a lawyer (500 Baht) for Centrelink. All Thais of course.

There's an Australian guy living long term in Chiang Mai who is officially authorized to countersign many documents from numerous Australian Gov't agencies and non government entities. I've used his service several times, accepted (in my case) by C'Link, the Oz DVA, Oz banks.

He won't accept any payment or gifts.

You need to contact him and make an appointment (last time I met him at a coffee shop inside Big C Extra on the superhighway).

PM to me if you want his name and contact details.

I would have thought Centrelink would be sending notifications by email, post, and on the Notifications section of their website.

We all make mistakes, no need to beat yourself up.

IIRC he is a JP. Not Ronald Elliott, some one else.

I have checked the Notification and messages pages of my Centrelink account, and there is no mention of any new requirements.

I will be phoning Centrelink International on Monday.
