Is It Possible To Build A Complete Motorcycle From Scratch In Thailand And Register It?

Now I have been 'toying'/fantasizing about the idea...does not mean I have any immediately plans or the like, but I am just asking if it is possible.

In the states, it is pretty popular to build a completely custom chopper (and I mean real "chopper" because the Thai idea of calling any "cruiser" bike (which is what it is called in the states) a "chopper"-->which means a customized bike, bugs me) using aftermarket frames from Paughco, Arlen Ness, Ultima, etc.

Now I now there is headaches about importing a Harley Davidson into Thailand, and they will tax the hel_l out of you, but what about if you build a completely custom chopper here in Thailand. Using like a Paughco frame. It has never been registered as a vehicle, and since it would be built in Thailand, technically it is a domestic vehicle. Is it doable, and what would the taxes/issues getting green book be.

I should also add, that this is just one of my 'fantasies' I always had. I really do not need a big bike, but I do have a harley, and harley parts such that I could build a pretty kick butt custom cruiser, especially if I use cheap Thai labor to put it together for me. But just didn't know if the authorities would allow me to, if there are import taxes, and all the other deals.

Thanks.

I think to get the green book you will need a frame number and engine number registered already in thailand and then maybe possible or otherwise they will wonder how it just appeared ie where was frame, engine before.i know some people buy the green book which i think is ilegal and expensive but possible as a way to get it registered .this is probably cheaper than importing a good chopper though.

Yes it is, anything is possible in Thailand,,,, if you have the money

Nicky in Phuket have build a bike with frame number Nicky001, with green book, so everything can be done, but you better find the right people first, and i mean first.
