February 14, 200818 yr I'm trying to find information about a centralised telephone number to call to summons an ambulance. Here in Phuket I already have the direct phone number of each local hospital. But I've been told that one can call 1669 from anywhere in Thailand and an ambulance will be dispatched! For some reason (!!) I doubt that this service exists. Does anyone have more knowledge about this? Is there a central emergency number. If so, who does actually connect to? Does it depend upon the geographical region (like the 1155 tourist police number). Does it just connect to the volunteer organisations? Thanks Simon PS - Yes I can just call the number myself. But that won't help me to know what infrastructure/resource etc is behind the number.
February 14, 200818 yr http://www.mdtravelhealth.com/destinations...a/thailand.html AmbulanceFor a public ambulance in Thailand, call 1669. Response time is usually 10 minutes in cities and 30 minutes in rural areas. For a private ambulance in Bangkok, call 66-2-667-2999 (Bumrungrad International Hospital) or 66-2-712-7007 (Samitivej Hospital).
February 14, 200818 yr There is a very decent member on here called Golfja, he is a pro by the sound of it, check out his posts. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=163351 As I say he sounds a pro not a untrained volunteer.
