I am presently on board a oil rig working and am soon to return home on leave, I am looking for somewhere really romantic and spectacular to take my wife for our anniversary I seem to have been almost everywhere in Chaing Mai. I work a month on and then spend a month at home so i have a lot of spare time. Any info would be most greatfully received.

luang prabang, Laos. Very stunning and beautiful, next to Mekong River. Direct flight from Bangkok. It's a 'world heritage' site. Unless she wants a beach resort I'd recommend Phi Phi but can be wet now!

The Andaman Club !

A nice hotel situated on it's own island just off Ranong on the southwest coast. Nothing there except the hotels amenities (swimming pool, restaurants, golf course , casino etc etc). It is situated in a romantic spot overlooking both the mainland of Thailand and Burma as well as the other islands in the vicinity. Be ok for a few days at least !

having said that , you're more than likely pee'd off with looking at the sea so forget it !!
