Car/bike Ownership

Featured Replies

Can farangs have cars and motorbikes in their name on an O and B visa?

cheers

Yup - no real problems there... Although you may have trouble with getting finance if you can't buy it all...

I have. I bought a new bike for cash. Had to go to immigration to verify my residence, and they saw that I had a B visa. The title is in my name only. I did not have to have or show a work permit.

Just the visa is enough.

For later reference, you also need a visa when you sell, which might be a prpblem for some.

cheers guys

Only a 30 day stamp of entry is needed (not a full VISA) at time of sale..

Of course if you buy and the owner has gone then you have your problems..

I had an experience where I sold a bike, but the new owner did not register the change for several months.

He was told by the Land Transport Dept that my letter was out of date.........

He came asking me for a new one, which was a headache to get.

I also know of a number of ghost vehicles in Pattaya, where the owners have left.

The vehicles are still in use with current road tax discs, and have changed hands several times, but the current owner is not the one listed in the book.
