What's The Procedure?

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps. I've read this forum for years and now have a couple of questions which I hope a wise owl can answer.

I've a work permit here at my workplace in Laski (20 min from the airport.) I wish to go to Cambodia next week by bus. My questions are:

1. Can I get a re-entry permit at the airport?

2. I've heard there is Thai Immigration department near the airport. Is this true? If so where is it? Can I get a re-entry permit there? How much will it cost? Do I need to take along my work permit in order to obtain the re-entry permit?

3. I've not being reporting to Thai Immigration authorities every three months; I've been forgetful. Will this pose any problems and/or cause any fines when I'm applying for the re-entry permit and/or exiting and re-entering Thailand?

If anyone can add any more advice on something I've overlooked concerning my questions please let me know.

Cheers and wishing I've a trouble free trip.

mongkutpb, your work permit has nothing to do with the re-entry permission.

Check your passport, it will have a stamp that says until what date you are permitted to stay. You can apply for re-entry permission that will be valid until the same day as your permit to stay expires. .

You better apply at Bangkok Immigration office (will take about 1 hour) with following:

1. Passport

2. One 4*6 cm. Photo

3. Application Form T.M. 8 (you will get there)

4. 1000 baht fee per single re-entry application.

There is a place issuing re-entries at the airport, but only for air-travellers after check in. They have to show the boarding pass.

I don't think their is another immigration office near the airport.

As for the 90-days-reporting:

I do not think, the re-entry section will refer you to the reporting place on another floor in the Bangkok immigration office. No guarantee so, legally the immigration can fine you.

Upon return from Cambodia you can stay as long as your permit and re-entry permit says. If longer than 90 days than I would report 88-89 days after came back. You than will be safe.

Thanks for the info!, truly good stuff!.

But if a visa boff is out there and can confirm a Thai Department of Immigration exists in Don Muang, I'd love it!

Axil gave you good advise.

1. No. Unless you change your mode of travel to air.

2. No. There is a passport office near Laksi which you are probably thinking about.

3. Although it may not be noticed today the fine can be 5,000 baht and 200 baht for each day so I would get that corrected.

He's probably thinking of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Laksi, which is no use to him.
