Oz

I know that this is a long way off. But next year i'm gonna get married and then 6 months later we will goto Oz.I am resident but Uk passport holder. If we get the spouse visa. Will my wife be able to work?

For you to sponser her you must be an Oz citizen, have permanent residence status or be an eligible NZ citizen according to the "Partner Migration" booklet.

If your wife is granted a "UF 309 Spouse provisional", then she can work, get Medicare benefits but won't be entitled to any centrelink benefits untill she gets permanent residence.

spot on bronco...on a 309 visa you can do evreything apart from recieving centrelink payments..but my wife had a baby 2 weeks ago..and she can get the baby bonus and centrelink payments put in her account for the baby

The one real pain about the not being eligible for a benefit untill till PR status is attained.

If I was receiving a centrelink benefit then my Wife starts working, the benefit is progressively eroded up to $351.00 per week, then it's zip, zero.
