Hello all, please bear with me as I am new to all this and just think I have a different situation which I need to confirm is possible or is just absolutely ridiculous.

I have been with my girlfriend now for 8 months and spent nearly 3 months in total with her in Thailand. Have been back in England about 3 weeks now, life just does not compare as most of you know. Now realistically I will be able to go back but only for a few months before I run out of money again so an option was moving to Australia after that to do my years working visa.

Now my question is would my girlfriend be able to get a visa for a year on the grounds of me working in Australia even though I am English. This sounds highly unlikely.

or

Is there anyway she can obtain a visiting visa on her own grounds if I was not involved. i.e.. holiday/working visa for herself as when I was in Australia last year I met a few Thai girls, so it is possible someway depending on the individual case though.

Her farther is Chinese, so would she be able to obtain a Chinese passport which would improve her situation to obtain a visa?

Any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks

I know of a girl who was granted a tourist visa to Oz for 3 months when her UK partner was here on a 3 year business visa......She has since returned here on a number of occasions.

However a working visa and a business visa are two different things.

You need to talk to the Oz immigration people I think to clarify your position and prospects. It would be unlikely that she would get a 12 month visa....maybe she may get a 12 month multi entry which allows for multiple entries of upto 3 months each trip. But that is at the Embassy's discretion.
