March 24, 200818 yr hi , is it possible to record my sons birth from the uk . i have his thai birthcertificate translated and my wifes passport whith me in the uk .or is it only possible to do in bangkok ?
March 24, 200818 yr If he's also a British citizen and was born in Thailand, then see also Consular Birth Registration (British Embassy) and Consular Birth Registration (FCO).
March 25, 200818 yr If your son was born in Thailand, then birth registration will have to be undertaken at the embassy. Scouse.
April 1, 200817 yr So if you are in the UK and have no intention to go back to Thailand you cannot register the baby's birth ? Surely they don't suggest putting documents in the post to Thailand ? Seems illogical not to have a work around for this situation.
April 2, 200817 yr So if you are in the UK and have no intention to go back to Thailand you cannot register the baby's birth ? If your child was born outside of the UK, s/he will have a birth certificate for the country in which s/he was born. A British birth certificate does not confer British citizenship and a lack of one does not negate any entitlement to a British passport. Scouse.
April 3, 200817 yr And does a British passport automatically give the holder the right of abode in the UK, entitlement to the health service, benefits etc. ?
April 3, 200817 yr Right of abode, yes, but not necessarily NHS treatment or benefits as these may be subject to residence tests. Scouse.
