His Majesty gives nearly Bt50 million to help orphans in Angthong

His Majesty the King has given nearly Bt50 million of his own money since 1997 to help 1,200 orphans at Wat Sa Kaew School in Angthong.

The school's orphans are suffering as a result of recent rising costs. Director Mayuree Srinak says thanks to news coverage of their plight, people have given rice and biscuits and made cash donations.

And, school manager Pratheep Srinak says His Majesty has been giving the school Bt450,000 a month since the 1997 crash. The money is spent on food.

There are 1,195 children studying at kindergarten to Mathayom 3 levels.

Prathom6 student Juthamas Thoopprasert says everyone at the school is frugal, and they have to be even more careful today, because basics are more expensive, and stocks are running low.
