My TG has visited the UK on 3 occassions on a tourist visa. However, now she has changed her name (first and surname). Her Thai ID card has her new name but her passport has her old name.

I assume she will need to get a new passport with her new name. However, the problem then is she will lose the history of her old passport if the thai authorities keep it. The history is good as it shows the's been to England on 3 occassions and has abided by the rules.

My Q is - what is the correct way to approach this. I'm guessing obtain new passport and in visa application show old passport, new passport, new ID card and change of name certificate.

Has anyone else encountered this before or know how best to proceed?

Does the UK Embassy care about the Thai ID card if the passport is valid? I've often wondered why the UK Embassy asks for the Thai ID card. I mean I doubt they are able to check on the computer that it's valid or do they farm this check to the thai authorities first?

Yes I know why complicate things and change your name in the first place. Women!!!

Thanks in advance.

The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs MIGHT endorse her current passport with her new name. Otherwise get her a new passport ( it only takes 3 days ) The MFA will give her back her old passport with her new one so her history remains intact.
