Hi,

Has anyone got any recent experience with Uk visa (tourist/family) applications ?

I want to apply for a visa for a couple of weeks visit for my Thai wife.

Not sure if that comes under "tourist" or "family" visit ?

Reading some of the threads here it seems it can take weeks to get a visa ?

I have been in Thailand for the last 4 months and I have been travelling back and forth regularly for two years. We were married 2 months ago and when the application is made we will have been married 3 months.

We have a joint Thai bank account with funds to show for the last 4 months will this be enough ?

I have a problem with the 6 months statements as my bank doesnt do statements being internet based. I can get a print out but for security reasons it wont state my name or address only account number.

Any thoughts or suggestions on that aspect ?

In fact, any thoughts, suggestions, advice or comments would be welcome......Thanks guys :o

It shouldn't take weeks to get a visit visa for your wife. In fact, it's often possible to have a decision within a matter of days of the application being lodged.

With regard to your bank statements, you have to work with what you have got, so I'd suggest submitting the internet print-outs and explain in your covering letter why your name etc are absent. Also submit evidence of your funds in Thailand. The visa officer's biggest concern is going to be whether you and your wife intend to return to Thailand at the end of the holiday, so if you anything which indicates that you will be in Thailand for the long-term, submit this too.

Scouse.

One point is that if you apply for a visit visa you have only a limited right to appeal a refusal. However with the Family visit if refused you have a full right of appeal. You do of course need to visit a family member and give their full contact details

There is some very interesting reading in the Independent Monitor for Entry Clearance refusals with limited rights of appeal reports.

They make it clear that the embassies do not always get it right that is over 17% of refusals were badly worded
