Heading off to Phuket on Sunday and will be staying at Bangtao beach gardens, i haven't been to Phuket for 8 years and have forgotten what the place is like and places to go.

Any good restaurants/ bars around the area?? or do i have to head into Patong, Karon etc.. ?? any info would be great.

Cheers

Wine Connection has a fairly new wine bar and restaurant in the Bangtao Plaza.

Good wine and a nice deck to sit and sip.

Barbecued food is good too.

Surin Beach is just over the hill, on that beach there are all kinds of little restaurants, the barbecued chicken at Nok Seafood is excellent.

Enjoy!

between surin, bangtao, chergtalay, tinley place plenty of good eating in that area

Try the Black Cat resterant in Chergtalay about 200 meters down from the police station. They have new management and chief. Keep away from the farang restaurant as hygiene is not good.

Good suggestions above. Karon has my fave beach (yea I know, but there is the absence of shade). I find that food is mediocre in Karon. I got sick at 2 fish places, but maybe they were off days, I dunno. Patong will drive you batty, but they have some good food and there is always the KFC in Jungceylon :o

Teds comment about Farang food restaurant is only one persons opinion.

I think it's one of the best eateries on Phuket and well priced. Thai and Farang food. And no I have no afiliation. I've just eaten there a few times.

The farang restaurant is well priced but the portsions are small and the toilet stinks out the restaurant, the kitchen is in a mess and you get other foods mixed in with other foods I.E Bits of crab shells in your spaghetti,. and the deserts are a joke. But haven said that some poeple are not fussy and would eat a load of cra- and still say it was nice. I think it depends on what you was given as a child. Some mums cook better then others. :o

3 times I've eaten there an all 3 had the worst, sullenly bitchy service ever, too bad as the food was good. I'm sure the kitchen is just as clean as any other establisment with an absentee owner that pays min wage

Babylon Beach Club, toward the south end is upscalish , pricy....Bang Tao Bungalow s has a nice spread further south. Must about 25 restaurants at that end of the beach . And then there are the 5 star resorts in the middle ( B Tao is about 8 km long )

However beware the lone restaurant at the north end ... the most tasteless food I've had in Thailand ( other than the tomato soup on a train to Chang Mai with a big thick black hair in it. Yechhh !!)
