Anyone know how to go about getting a visa for my Thai wife.

We want to go to Europe mainland and I understand that there is a visa available for spouses of an EU citizen (free of charge?).

I have contacted the French and the German embassy and they are only interested in issuing a vacation visa.

I travel to Europe a lot with my work and really would like a visa for longer term and multiple entries.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Providing that you can demonstrate that you and your wife are married and that you are a British citizen, her Schengen visas should be issued free of charge. These will grant your wife an initial right of entry providing that you are with her. If you then wish to stay longer than that allowed by the visa, she should make a residence card application to the local authorities in the relevant country.

The applicable legislation is the European Council Directive 2004/38, in particular Article 5.

Scouse.
