I know there have been many posts and comment about the new zoning laws, especially about the enforcement of closing times. But no-one seems to have made much comment about the times of opening!

From a previous thread, the rules state:

lNightclubs and bars inside the zones are allowed to open from 9pm to 2am, while those outside can stay open from 9pm to midnight.

lLounges and teahouses both inside and outside the zones are allowed to open for two periods, from 11am to 2pm and from 6pm to midnight.

lModern massage parlours in the zones are allowed to open from 12 noon to midnight, while those outside the zones can open from 6pm to midnight.

lPubs, discotheques, cafes, restaurants with live bands and cabarets in the zones are allowed to open from 6pm to 1am, while those outside the zones can open from 6pm to midnight.

lRestaurants with live music both inside and outside the zones are allowed to open from 6pm to 1am.

But if I go to Nana in the early afternoon, then all pubs and bars are open! (Should be opening at 9pm if I read the rules correctly). Same can be said in this and other locations for massage parlours etc.

So there seems to be no enforcement of the opening hours, (as opposed to closing hours) for these establishments at all!

Can someone comment on this? Have I mis-interpreted the rules as to when a bar can open it's doors?

Cheers

Simon

Maybe off the radar right now, but strictly speaking, does that law apply? (Which means it could be enforced in the future...)

Dont know about opening times. But i was on Khao San last night and they kicked everyone out at 1am. Khao San was really busy last night. A bit more than usual. The cops came round all the pubs and made sure everyone was out. So you got thousands of people hanging around in the street. If this continues, its only a matter of time till theres fights or whatever. Seems stupid to have so many young people on the streets at the same time, pissed up. They should see common sense and let the bars stagger closing times. Thus preventing problems in the future.

You are right there, Toxin is bad for Thailand, if just they could get rid of him, we would be back to the real LOS

I am always interested in closing times.

This is how I read things at the moment in Bangkok.

Everyone is basically closing at 1.00am - with an overrun of between 0 and 30 minutes.

The exceptions that are closing at 2.00am:

Various hotel clubs

87

Spasso's

CM2

Rivas

angels

Clubs in Zones

Lucifer

Forte

others?

Influence

Narcissus

There are various after hours places but I havent included them. anyone add to this list?

Just visit RCA, you'll like it. All clubs are closed at 2 a.m. and there're quite a few fit girls around (unless you fancy farang-only-clubs)
