Departure Fees?

Does BKK still have a 500 baht per person departure fee? Last time it was Cash only. I thought they did away with this? Did they?

Departure fee is now included in the price of the ticket so no more payments when you leave.

And I believe it's gone up to 700 baht now, but because it's hidden in the cost of the ticket, you don't notice it (as much), and most people won't notice it (much) if it gets bumped up even higher in the future.

It is more convenient though.

Would you prefer calling them passenger services charge? Same thing. Its an airport fee, now charged to the airlines and they then pass the cost on to you. Standard in most airports, I believe.

As in other airports, it's called asking the users of the service to cover some of the costs of those services. The small cost charged in Thailand is a pittance compared to charges in many western airports.
