Rubik's Cube

Featured Replies

Following the release just two weeks ago of the 5X5, 6X6 and 7X7 cubes (previous attempts at creating these type of cubes caused collapse of the mechanism): What is Your best time for solving the traditional 3X3 Rubik's cube?

Has anyone here learned the algorithms for solving the 4X4 cube (Rubik's Revenge)?

Is anyone planning on attending the 'Philippine Open' Rubik's cube competition, July 5/6th 2008?

By the way, my fastest solve time is 54 seconds.

I used to play the rubix puzzle. Could do the first one in about 10 seconds using the 'crunch' method.

I am not familiar with the 'Crunch Method' is that based on Thistlethwaite's Algorithm?

I can remember doing it in less than 23 seconds but that was such a long time ago, maybe i'll buy one tonight and try again!

I was given one when they first came out and the last timeI looked I still hadnt got more than 1 side finished. I had a friend who could do it in under 20 seconds But then he always was a clever little sh&t Supposed to be the big toy this christmas so go get them early :o

Not based on any algorithm but a specific twisting motion that almost destroys the device by breaking the wires, but shortcuts to the solution.

I bought one yesterday for 20 baht, finished it once but took me about 30 minutes!!!!

I have been looking to buy a 3x3 one here in Bangkok but haven't found them yet. Any suggestions? One of those computer ones I saw in Panthip would be great! Thanks.

When I was 9 years old or so, I could routinely finish it in about 50-70 seconds.

Then I didn't pick up a cube for years until I came to Thailand. For some reason, I see them laying around here now and then, maybe once/year, even though I never see them in the rest of the world.

Now it takes me about 20-30 minutes... I've forgotten all the little shortcuts I had as a youngster, and sit there staring at it and re-inventing the wheel each time.
