Subway - Eat Fresh

Featured Replies

Hello Folks,

What do you think of Subway and the whole eat fresh concept?

Personally, I rate Subway and the marketing campaign they have set up to target Thais is pretty dam_n good, though I reckon it will take time to get Thais hooked into bread - then again, 10 years ago the same could be said for Cheese and Pizza and there are 100s of Pizza Co restauarnts now.

No question though, just now, the main customer base is Farangs. There are braches in the following locations: All good spots with a good traffic I think.

  • Sukhumvit Rd. 3 stores at Sois: 7/1, 23, 33.
  • Silom Rd between Sois 2&4.
  • Siam Paragon
  • Near Khao San Rd.
  • Impact Arena Convention Center
  • Nichida Thani (near the American School) Dream World Amusement Park

What about these areas as possible new locations: Which do you think would see some healthy Farang traffic?

  • Siam Square
  • MBK Shopping Center
  • Sukhumvit near Soi 39, 55, 103
  • Silom Rd near the Oriental Hotel, Satorn Rd
  • Central World Plaza
  • Suriyawongse Rd
  • RCA Avenu
  • Pratunam area
  • Emporium Shopping Center
  • Any other shopping centres you think would work?
  • Any other locations you think would work?

Cheers!

Nothing compares to the wonderful taste and textures of thai cuisine. One can make a sandwich without having to go to subway.

Yep, I like Thai food too. I also like Indian, Chinese, French etc etc etc. To eat Thai food every day would be uninteresting.

Today I might fact a meatball foot long. Tomorrow maybe Somtam, Kow neow, Gai yang.

Variety is the spice of life. :o

I have eaten at the Subway at Khao Sarn and Sukhumvit 7/1

the Khao Sarn location's food tasted better

MBK

Siam Square

Pratunam

would be good locations in my opinion with MBK and Pratunam leading the pack solely because of the amount of foot traffic

Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Yep, another great location. Certainly needs it! I'd imagine the rents would be pretty high

What Bangkok really needs is an altrnative sandwhich place especially for the take-away business luinch crowd similar to what you get in Australia, Europe etc.

Every time I go to describe it, it just sounds like Subway but if you have seen a good sandwhich shop back home, with healthy options, heaps of different breads and filler selections made in front of you, you know what I mean. There are even some great ones in Aus where you just go along and ad all your own stuff yourself and the selction is amazing. Pay at the door as you go.

I really miss good sandwhich options aside from Au Bon and Subway.

subway is better than having a thai sandwedge

Fresh what?

Processed pressed meat slices, processed cheese slices, meat balls made from sausage fat, toppings that come out of a plastic bin, pickles and olives from a can or barrel, covered in a sauce high in calories/fat. How old is the dough that makes the bread rolls?

Give me a good old fashioned sandwich shop any day where I can buy ham cut from the bone, fresh salad straight out of the garden and a touch of English mustard.

Yarrows bakery, Manaia, southern Taranaki, in New Zealand supplys Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Pacific islands.

Thia rolls are made, par baked in Bangers., so the Thai guy in a Subway told me.

Not as good as the NZ made, believe me.

The bakery seels allsorts of par baked goods, frozen and shipped.

And if you get a just-baked croissant at a hotel in California, the dough may have been made in Manaia. The buttery, French-style bread is also exported to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.

That's what Im TALKING ABOUT.

And no, not a Thai style sandwhich as someone said....a real sandwhich with fresh salad, fresh cold cuts, frech bread and heaps of options. Sun dried tomatoes anyone? Pesto? Wholegrain mustard? Rocket? Swiss cheese? Mmmmmm......

I appreciate subway very much . There is not much in Chiangmai which

have eatable sandwiches , but they are a little overcharged in my opinion .

But I am a regular customer . But if Au bon was in CM , subway will loose big !

Subway can actually be quite healthy but not every sandwich is low in calories. For those who've lived in the U.S., just ask Jared, right?

Subway is great but can be sub-par depending on the management of each particular store. Have seen a few horrible ones in the U.S.

To be honest i have never tried the place. Not realy a sandwich guy as i can make one myself when needed.

Subway is the best type of fast food.

Who wants a Mcdonalds, if you can have a chicken ham and roast beef?

I don't think they will ever be the hit with Thais that KFC and burgers are. A bit too healthy. I haven't tried the Thai version because I heard the filling quality is not as high as in the US, which wasn't all that high there either. I can make a better sandwich at home and when out am looking for something more exotique.

Forget the healthy eating, the only sandwich i have is a sausage and egg buttie mmmmmmmmmm

Subway in thailand doesn't come close to Subway I've had outside Thailand. I think it i has to do with the lack of high turnover, therefore the fillings aren't as fresh and become stale and stagnant. I had a meatball sub on Samui and nearly puked.

Agree , those meatballs are utter disgusting .

maybe cause I'm used to my mothers and they are the best !

I don't mind processed cheese on sandwiches and all that other stuff, but processed meats just don't hit the spot. Processed "steak", "roast beef" "turkey", and "ham" are just a pale imitation of the real thing! :o

I must say I rate them higher than the usual fast food chains but if I wanted to have a sandwich I would make it myself. But as with all the other mega junk chains people seem to like it.

I still find it sad that they are infiltrating Thailand so rapidly when Thai food is far superior and more readily available.

Another food fascist.

There is plenty of Thai food on every street in every nook and cranny all over the kingdom. Please give those of us who are not crazy about it some other choices! :o
